How to practice pen strokes

Brush strokes of hard pen calligraphy

When writing the front stroke, try to write the pen in place, such as skimming, pressing, hooking and folding, that is, run the ink in the pen to the last position of the stroke. Hard-pen calligraphy is different from writing brush, and its brush strokes are not so obvious. A brush can achieve the thickness of lines with a light press, while a hard pen needs "force" to achieve it. When writing, hold the upper end of the hard pen with your thumb, the middle finger is close to the opposite of the index finger, and the other two fingers rest on the middle finger. The pen holder is inclined to the paper, and the inclination of the pen tip is about 45 degrees. In writing, when you start writing, you should gently put the pen in, then put it down, and then start writing. When you receive the pen, you still need to put it back. The back here is similar to the back in brush calligraphy, and the movements should be in place, but in hard pen calligraphy, this back is just an empty back, and there is no substantive back. When practicing, slow down the speed of each stroke and pay attention to the fullness of the stroke. After practicing skillfully, you can gradually speed up your writing, but don't scribble, pay attention to the hints between strokes, and add some matching strokes.

Brush calligraphy

The strokes of a pen depend on the use of the pen when writing. When writing, the pen tip should be lifted quickly when leaving the stroke, but not too fast, so that the stroke can be sharper. You can use a pen with a good nib. Be careful not to be hasty when you mention it. The ink should be even, and there should be ink in the nib. Don't fly for nothing. When completing the line, the brush must start from the center. There is basically no difficulty when you are in a straight line, as long as the brush is as straight as possible, but it is not so easy when you need to change the direction: the pen tip originally in the middle of the stroke is biased to the side of the stroke after turning the direction, which is what we often say. So we need to practice how to keep the pen used in the center after changing the direction, that is, "adjusting the front", and drawing mosquito-repellent incense is a good training method, because the brush needs to change the direction constantly when drawing a circle.
