The 77-meter-tall building has no pillars? Dubai spends 900 million to build a new "world landmark"

"See the future, change the future."

“The most complex building in the world.”

“The greatest invention in the world today.”

“A rare, algorithm-driven design in the world. Architecture. ”

Can you believe that these four powerful sentences are all describing the same building?

And this building comes from the "oil-rich" Dubai. The Burj Khalifa, the tallest man-made building in the world, and the Palm Island, the largest man-made island in the world, are all classic creations of this magical city in the Middle East. Recently, Dubai has added a new landmark - the "Museum of the Future".

A charming "Danfeng Eye" "The Museum of the Future" is the most beautiful building on earth! "Sheikh Mohammed, the Ruler of Dubai, commented on this Dubai building that he is proud of. Seeing its true appearance, I have to say that it is indeed beautiful!

The construction area is 30,000 square meters. It has a stainless steel facade of over 17,000 square meters, a building height of 77 meters and seven floors. It cost 500 million dirhams and a total of 900 million yuan. It covers a huge area and has an astronomical amount of money to build. It has a strange appearance.

The "Museum of the Future" looks like an oval hollow ring standing on a green mound. Green represents the vibrant earth, the oval building standing on it represents human power, and the void in the middle of the building symbolizes the unknown future.

The wonderful appearance of the entire museum perfectly caters to the designer's original design intention, to see the future and change the future.

With its unique oval shape and the unknown tension brought by the "hollow", the entire museum is like a phoenix eye, watching the light-speed development of this magical city.

However, compared to the unique appearance, the strange patterns on the building's surface attract more attention. The seemingly chaotic geometric patterns, connected together, are actually a complete Arabic poem.

A beautiful poem looking towards the future of Dubai, written by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE.

This cursive-style Arabic poem is composed of 1024 flame-retardant composite panels made with 3D printing technology.

Attached to the silver stainless steel skin of the museum, this coincidental beauty is difficult to describe in words.

What’s more worth mentioning is that these patterns are not just for decoration. They also play an important role as museum windows. During the day, dappled sunlight can shine through these windows into the interior.

At night, these windows are illuminated by LED lights with a total length of 14 kilometers, and the effect is shocking and dramatic!

This unique way of processing light brings an extremely unexpected aesthetic effect, which can be said to be the perfect combination of art and function.

In fact, before the "Museum of the Future" was officially opened, it had been hailed as an architectural marvel and won global acclaim.

Last July, it was rated as one of the 14 most beautiful museums on earth in a list of world museums selected by National Geographic magazine.

Of course, such a high reputation cannot be just because of its unique shape.

In fact, as early as the beginning of the design, Killa Design Studio and Buro Happold, who were responsible for the design of the "Future Museum", had already left bold words. The museum is to be built into "the most advanced building in the world."

If the Burj Khalifa and Palm Island mentioned earlier are architectural miracles built by Dubai with money.

So this time is different. The Museum of the Future can be said to have touched the current technological ceiling of mankind.

In order to complete this epoch-making design, designers developed a new parametric modeling tool for it. With the help of this tool, after repeated simulations, I finally found the possibility to actually create the unique appearance and shape of the original design.

But do you think that once the architectural model comes out, everything is over? This is just the beginning.

You must know that this is a 7-story building. The geometric structure of each floor and the cutouts of each calligraphy panel on the skin are completely different. Each structure and each panel needs to be individually formed and manufactured.

The 1,024 panels with Arabic characters on the surface alone have a maximum width of 3 meters and a height of 9 meters. The most complex ones require bidirectional bending, so that only six panels can be produced in a day.

The complexity of the whole process can be imagined. Since the model is calculated exquisitely by computer, once the building structure deviates by even one centimeter or one degree, the consequences will be unimaginable.

Furthermore, since the Arabic text on the building skin itself is 2D, and now it is poured onto the 3D building surface, the text will naturally be distorted. If you want to be more beautiful, you need to keep trying, which is time-consuming and labor-intensive.

It is said that designers and panel suppliers finally finalized the current structural design plan after a full year of repeated trials and adjustments. So with the blessing of science and technology and the unremitting efforts of all parties, people erected such an unprecedented "elevated" building without abandoning the pillars.

Without the unsightly pillars, the internal space of the "Museum of the Future" has been greatly expanded and is unusually open.

From the first sketch of the Museum of the Future, sustainability has been driving its design. Through the design, passive storage of solar energy is achieved, and energy and water consumption in the building are reduced. A series of water and energy recovery solutions are also designed. There is even a large off-site solar power generation facility on the top of the building.

The "Museum of the Future" has abruptly built a 4,000-megawatt solar energy supply system. Providing energy to the entire museum is not a piece of cake.

Such a complete renewable energy utilization design has also allowed the "Future Museum" to receive the highest evaluation of green buildings in the world, and the "LEED" platinum certification, making it truly No. 1 in the Middle East.

If you think that the "Museum of the Future" is world-renowned just because of its novel appearance and superb construction technology, then you are wrong. This museum can be said to be both internal and external.

The interior space on the 7th floor is rich and colorful, and each floor has a completely different exhibition theme. It brings a variety of exhibition experiences to people.

Walking into this "museum of the future", we can not only feel the beautiful light and shadow experience reflected by Arabic poetry, but also experience the shock of knowledge.

An immersive VR display that is rarely seen in outer space and bioengineering.

You can even find a science and technology museum specially designed for children to encourage them to explore the future.

Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg. As a unique incubator for future innovation and design in Dubai and even the world.

In the "Future Museum" in the future, we can also see more future technologies, as well as future creativity and assumptions in many other fields.

Whether it is appearance, meaning, or technology, Dubai's "Future Museum" can bear the word "future".

On February 22, 2022, the "Museum of the Future" was opened to the public.

"Kubo Jichuang is committed to the design, production and implementation of movable prefabricated buildings. Through the selection and application, improvement and updating of materials, we create innovative, intelligent and integrated modular buildings , making it serve real estate projects, tourism planning, design, development, promotion and operation management, as well as unique spaces that require flexible placement. ”
