A brief introduction to the art of calligrapher Mr. Wang Chengming

Wang Chengming, born in Linqu, Shandong Province in 1962, graduated from the Automatic Control Department of Taiyuan Mechanical Institute. He is currently a member of Shandong Calligraphers Association, vice chairman of Zhangdian District Calligraphers Association of Zibo City, and vice chairman of Shandong Entrepreneurs Calligraphy and Painting Association.

He has inherited his family education since childhood and has been studying for more than 40 years. In recent years, he has been diligently researching the promotion of traditional Chinese calligraphy, and finally developed his own three-dimensional calligraphy, which expanded the two-dimensional expression space of traditional Chinese calligraphy into a three-dimensional expression space. His calligraphy works have won national invention patents and national copyright protection.

In 2012, his works were selected to fly to the Tiangong-1 space station aboard the Shenzhou-9 spacecraft. His works were exhibited by the General Armament Department, China Aerospace Flight Control Center, China Astronaut Scientific Research and Training Center, the Party School of the Ministry of Railways, etc. Multi-unit collection.

Mr. Wang Chengming was born in a scholarly family in Weifang, Shandong, and his family has always inherited excellent traditional Chinese culture. He was taught by his father from an early age and often worked with calligraphy brushes after dinner. His childhood experience not only laid a good foundation for calligraphy for Wang Chengming, but also imprinted the ideal of calligraphy creation in his heart.

In 1977, China’s college entrance examination system, which had been interrupted for ten years by the Cultural Revolution, was restored. That is to say, in the autumn of 1978, Wang Chengming, who was only 16 years old, relied on his solid learning skills and was admitted to the Automatic Control Department of Taiyuan Mechanical College, becoming the second batch of college students after the resumption of the college entrance examination. Even though Wang Chengming studied engineering, he has always maintained the habit of studying and practicing calligraphy. In his second year at university, Wang Chengming's calligraphy works won the first prize in the university calligraphy competition.

After graduating from university, Wang Chengming entered a state-owned enterprise under the Ministry of Ordnance Industry. With his intelligence and continuous hard work, he obtained the title of engineer at the age of 25, and was rated as a senior engineer at the age of 31. engineer. Although he holds an important job in the unit, he still keeps practicing calligraphy and squeezes in time to study and practice calligraphy. He first learned Ou Kai script and later learned cursive script, practicing hard for more than forty years. During this period, he studied the inscriptions of the two kings, studied Kuang Cao of Huai Su, and read the strengths of various schools of thought.

In the process of studying ancient calligraphy, Mr. Wang Chengming discovered that no matter how the pen is used in traditional calligraphy, the words written are flat and its expressive power is slightly weak. Even if it is a pen-pen center, it is difficult to reflect the three-dimensional effect. No one has yet conducted in-depth research and exploration on how to improve and create new ones, or the corresponding results have not yet been displayed to the world. So in his spare time, he began to study the promotion of traditional Chinese calligraphy.

Mr. Wang Chengming discovered that before the rise of Bangshu, Chinese calligraphy was limited to calligraphy tools and uses that were mostly practical, mostly in small characters, and focused on "elegance." With the improvement of calligraphy tools and the enhancement of the artistry of calligraphy, large characters and Bangshu have become an art of calligraphy. The big characters of Bangshu focus on "momentum", which is the advantage of three-dimensional calligraphy.

Small characters must be "opened" and large characters must be "closed". Each character in the list book must be one or two meters in size. After writing it, it will be completely black and it cannot be "powerful" and "elegant". unified. Mr. Wang Chengming gave full play to the advantages of a senior engineer in testing, summarizing, and innovating. After a lot of "testing-failure-testing again", he finally accumulated accumulated experience and developed his own three-dimensional list book, which combined the two-dimensional expression space of traditional Chinese calligraphy. , expanded into a three-dimensional expression space, pioneered the three-dimensional expression of Chinese calligraphy, and unified the "power" of list calligraphy and the "elegance" of small and medium-sized calligraphy from opposition to unity.
