Olympic admission ceremony

These inscriptions were written by painter Xu Beihong and his disciple Dou Benji.

According to the Beijing Times, Dou Benji, who wrote the title of the TV series "The Granary in the World", said that the preparatory group for the opening ceremony originally planned to let the selected dozens of calligraphers write 20 guide cards and show them together at the opening ceremony, but when they put them together, they found that the calligraphers' works were different and had no overall style.

The report said that the day before the finalization, Lin Yi, the chief photographer of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Olympic Games, found Dou Benji and asked him to write an inscription for the large-scale picture books "Burning Years" and "Climbing" for the opening and closing ceremonies. Lin Bu was amazed when he saw Dou Benji's calligraphy works, and immediately asked him to try to write guide cards for several countries.

According to Lin Yi's request, Dou Benji wrote down the names of 20 countries that night, took photos and sent them to Zhang Yimou, the general director of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Olympic Games.

On the night of receiving Dou Benji's email, Zhang Yimou was screening calligraphers' inscriptions in front of the computer. Zhang Yimou saw Dou Benji's inscription and suddenly got up and went to the computer to read it carefully. He said excitedly that he wanted to talk to the inscription.

In this way, Dou Benji was entrusted with the important task of writing a field guide card for athletes at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
