Lao Zi, a silk book unearthed from Mawangdui No.3 Han Tomb, has two volumes, A and B.
4. Different meanings
Laozi: Laozi A, B and C on Guodian bamboo slips is the earliest copy of Laozi in 1990s. Most of its sentences are similar or the same as the current edition of Laozi, but there is no distinction between Taoist scriptures and Taoist scriptures, and the chapters do not correspond to the current edition.
The simplified version of Laozi is divided into three chapters in the traditional version of Laozi, some of which are equivalent to the whole chapter of the traditional version, and some are only equivalent to one chapter or most of the chapters. The simplified version contains 2046 words, about two-fifths of the biographical version. Because of several grave robberies, bamboo slips disappeared, and the simplified version of Laozi was no exception. Therefore, it is impossible to accurately estimate the original number of simplified books.
Lao Zi unearthed from Mawangdui No.3 Han Tomb: There are two copies of Lao Zi in Mawangdui No.3 Han Tomb. The first copy of seal script is earlier than the second copy of official script. According to the taboo of Han dynasty, we can know that the first copy was earlier.
In particular, the discovery of the second edition of official script once again made up for the long-standing shortage of physical works in the process of Qin Zhuan's evolution to the official script of the Eastern Han Dynasty.
The silk book Laozi belongs to the official script of the early Western Han Dynasty. Although the official script still has the meaning of seal script, the pen has changed from a round shape to a square folded official script, and the horizontal painting is slightly inclined to the upper right, showing a slight wave shape. The brush is long in thickness and reddish in color, especially the pen is thick and powerful, which has the quaint style of Gu Zhuo, an early official script.
Between words, the branches and scattered words are symmetrical, showing a good overall composition effect, which can be called the outstanding official script works in the early Western Han Dynasty.
