Zou Dali’s artistic views

About painting: 1. The development of Chinese painting today is the re-creation of traditional and modern consciousness in the conflict and integration; 2. The beauty of tradition is awe-inspiring, but technological innovation still needs to move forward. This is the expression of art and The dual needs of aesthetic needs; 3. No matter how superb the technique is, it must serve expression and make way for ideas. That is to say, different expressions should correspond to different techniques, and successful works must be the organic unity of techniques and ideas; 4. Ideas vary from person to person. Only by using philosophical thinking, stand at the height of man and nature, man and society, man and life. Only by examining the art of painting can we become a true master.

About calligraphy: Imagery theory originated from China. "Book of Changes" once put forward the ancient and profound proposition of "establishing images to express the meaning". I understand that imagery is between abstraction and concreteness, and is an expressive image. It can be said that all things come from the heart. Images should not only express tangible objective objects, but also highlight the intangible subjective world. The connotation of modern image calligraphy can be defined as: establishing images to express the meaning, and the meaning comes from the heart. Emotion, sex, intention and image are integrated into one, in order to achieve a unique and lofty artistic conception. Modern image calligraphy uses rich and varied visual forms to express freehand brushwork, express aspirations, and express feelings, expressing the rich emotions, life understanding, and philosophical care between people, people and society, people and nature, and people and life in modern society. Feel the heart, do your best, and reach your emotions.

About poetry: A poet friend has asked me to write more poetry many times, saying that my poems can best reveal his true nature. I thought about it, what kind of poem is "my poem"? It's not like some poems, you can just put anyone's name on it; moreover, what is "true temperament"? In fact, I have not written many poems in the past 20 years, but I have never stopped writing in my heart, or I have never stopped observing, capturing and freezing life with a poet's eyes, or I have never stopped poetry, even just for a moment. What is called poetry must not be suppressed or decorated with gorgeous words. The true temperament of poetry must be the result of appreciating life and facing society directly. The true temperament of poetry must come from the true temperament of people.

About photography: The world has no boundaries, and travelers have no boundaries. I am a traveler, exiled on the road. I use the lens to measure the length of time, and I use the focal length to interpret the weight of life. I put on my vest, picked up my tripod, and my camera bag was a piece of luggage I carried on my shoulders. To me, the camera is like paper and ink, dry food, cigarettes that I can’t quit, or the candlelight cast by a woman during a night walk. I don’t live for photography, photography makes me live more powerfully. A little bird flew away without a trace in the sky. A drop of tear dries up, leaving behind a lot of sentimentality. Each photo brings up peeling memories. Exposure again and again welds the backbone of life. If you ask me how to shoot, I will tell you what I think. Having a well-thought-out knowledge in your mind and understanding it in your heart is the thinking of a wise man; being inside and out is the desire of a shadow person. Without light, shadow, and tone, where would the emotion be? There are only color compositions, what do you think? It’s not Zen when you say it, what a classic Zen feeling; the scent of horseshoes when you return from stepping on flowers, what a romantic association. If the time is too long, just capture a moment in the years; if the space is too big, just cut out a part of the world. Let your index finger touch the pain of the soul, and let the shutter open the sunshine of reason.

About seal cutting: Seal cutting is a piece of stone carved with great effort, and a mark stamped on rice paper. Engraving is a process that changes stones from silence to sound and acquires life memories. Although I don’t have any precious stones in my hand, and even though I moved several times, I have never lost any of the hundreds of seals I have carved. This small amount of space is engraved with passages of my thoughts, thoughts, and memories. I really enjoy the squeaking sound when I hold the carving knife and walk backwards on the stone. I also enjoy the imprint left by the vermilion ink paste on the rice paper for the first time after carving a seal, as if it is the strength of my heart. and thoughts remain on it.

About life: Family, three seemingly simple words, are so warm and magical when combined. This is the destiny given by God, this is the only one among thousands of possibilities. It is said to be ordinary, but it is also different.

Walking into the room is like walking into a randomly sketched picture. The composition seems messy but still organized: a large painting table is placed in the center of the studio, covered with rice paper and pen and ink. Sometimes, a family of three gathers around it. Write and draw on it; calligraphy and painting works are hung irregularly around the wall, and the faint fragrance of ink exudes a strong sense of poetry and painting; a heavy astronomical telephoto camera is mounted under the open skylight, which can be seen in the night sky There are dotted craters on the moon; beside the fish pond in the corner sits a guqin that has not been played for a long time, as if it is still echoing with a melodious and sweet sound; the bookshelf is filled with the Four Books and Five Classics, philosophical classics, photography albums, poetry collections, and some authentic books. Authentic and fake, large and small antiques and stone carvings; in some inconspicuous corners, there are also some autumn leaves, shells, dried lotus pods, reeds picked up from everywhere that have been reluctant to discard. Every morning when we wake up, we go to the terrace to stretch out and bask in the sun. The fence is surrounded by grape and gourd vines, and a group of chirping sparrows peck at the grains on the ground... All of this has become an indispensable part of life. This is the art world of a family...

About time: I completed these things in my spare time, after dinner. Because my profession is not art, or these hobbies must be completed outside 8 hours. So, whether you or I, how much spare time does a person have? This is how I calculated it: 104 days of 52 big weekends in a year; 11 days of statutory holidays; the remaining 250 working days, excluding 8 hours of working time every day, is equivalent to 166 days of free disposal (in fact, this 8 hours should be reduced Go to at least two hours of rest and lunch time, which is equivalent to 22 days of free activities in a year, which is ignored for now). Adding the three together, it is equivalent to 281 days of your own spare time in a year. Except that everyone spends roughly the same time on the road and in bed, the rest of the time depends on how you arrange it. Your spare time is two-thirds of your life. Neglecting your spare time means shortening your life. No matter how boring your job is, as long as you have one or two hobbies (whether related to art or not) and persist in them, your life will become poetic. To put it mildly, this is a lifelong hobby that makes people happy. To put it more broadly, this is an artistic exploration that faces life head-on, which is fulfilling.
