In 1955, Mr. Chen Shuicheng, a sage from Sanshe Village in Guankou, the then vice-chairman of the Tongan County CPPCC and chairman of the Overseas Chinese Federation, and his younger brother Mr. Chen Zhanmei (then the president of the Myanmar Merchants Federation, Mr. Zeng Tianzhu, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference) and Chen Shuicheng's assistant, out of a pure heart of patriotism and love for his hometown, launched a fund-raising campaign from the overseas Chinese community and began to prepare for the construction of Guankou Middle School. On April 13, 1957, the inauguration ceremony of Guankou Middle School was held. Chen Zhanmei returned to his hometown from Myanmar specially. Comrade Li Wenling, then mayor of Xiamen, cut the ribbon for the inauguration of "Xiamen Guankou Middle School in Fujian Province".
