After Feng Yunan died of illness in May 2003, the people in his hometown missed him very much and built a memorial hall for him. The museum is located in the courtyard of Wenfeng Tower, the first tower in China.
The bronze statue donated this time was designed and produced free of charge by Tianjin sculptor Liu Xin. Also donated to the memorial hall were 12 works by Feng Yunan and 298 other books, as well as Feng Yunan’s certificates, letters of appointment, photos, manuscripts, clothing, daily necessities, etc. during his lifetime. He left Fenyang at the age of 9 and later settled in Tianjin to engage in literary creation. He passed away in 2003. Mr. Feng has written extensively, including novels, essays, and TV series. His famous novel "Huo Yuanjia, the Hero of Jinmen" is hailed as a model among the rising popular literature works, and was evaluated by the Creative Research Department of the Chinese Writers Association as a representative work of popular literature in the new era of China. Due to his outstanding contribution to the development of folk culture and art, Feng Yunan was awarded the Organization Award from the UNESCO International Folk Art Organization for the excavation, protection and dissemination of folk culture, and the discovery and cultivation of artistic talents.
