Guanghua Temple is located in the southwest of the city The foothills of Fenghuang Mountain (also known as Nanshan), about 2 kilometers away from the suburbs, is a famous ancient temple in central Fujian and one of the largest Buddhist jungles in Fujian. Recently it was rated as one of the top ten scenic spots in Fujian. The temple was first built in the second year of Chen Yongding in the Southern Dynasty (AD 558) and was first named Jinxian'an. Later it was expanded into a temple. In the second year of Jingyun of the Tang Dynasty (AD 711), Emperor Ruizong named Lingyan Temple, which was inscribed by the famous calligrapher Liu Gongquan. In the first year of Taiping and Xingguo in the Song Dynasty (AD 976), Emperor Taizong of the Song Dynasty renamed it Guanghua Temple.

The Song Dynasty was the heyday of Guanghua Temple. At that time, there were 10 courtyards, 120 nunneries under its jurisdiction, and more than a thousand monks. The eaves and couplets rub against each other, mansions emerge one after another, the mountain gates are like a city, and pilgrims are like clouds. The current building complex was rebuilt in the early years of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty. In recent years, with the enthusiastic support of overseas Chinese, Guanghua Temple has undergone comprehensive renovation and expansion. The total area is more than 32,000 square meters, and the construction area has reached more than 16,000 square meters. The entire layout consists of screen walls, archways, mountain gates, release pools, Tianwang Hall, Main Hall, Dharma Hall (the upper part is the Sutra Pavilion), and the Ancestral Hall. (The Pavilion of Reclining Buddha on top) is the central axis, facing north to south, with a total length of 385 meters and is majestic. There are spacious verandahs with hundreds of columns on both wings, which closely connect the entire building complex into one. The left chamber is in sequence from the Reclining Buddha Pavilion to the Emperor’s Merit Hall, Xisheng Pavilion, Shuiyun Township, Zunke Hall, Jialan Hall, Wuguan Hall (the storehouse at the top, and the Xiangji Kitchen at the back) to the bell tower; the right chamber is the Reclining Buddha Pavilion in order. Next to it are the Prajna Hall, Kanshan Tower, Abbot, Yanxia Cave, Jingxing Hall, Patriarch Hall, Xuejie Hall and the Drum Tower. A magnificent Guanyin Pavilion was built on the upper left, housing an eight-meter-tall Guanyin statue; a new Xiaonanshan Ksitigarbha Hall was built on the upper right. The eaves of the tower are carved like bricks and tiles, with a tendency to float in the wind. Its architectural art is rare in Fujian and is listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit. In the temple, there is a plaque of Wande solemnly written by Zhao Puchu himself, with eight characters in the solemn land and "Li Le and You Qing".
