Zhao Gao was a great calligrapher in the Qin and Han Dynasties. In the Preface of Explaining Characters by Explaining Literatures by Xu Shen in the Eastern Han Dynasty, it was said: "Zhao Gao wrote" Love Calendar ",which was based on the big seal script of Shi Shu, or was quite omitted." There are 59 calligraphers in Qin, Han and Wu Dynasties in Wang Qing's Annals of Ancient and Modern Characters, including Zhao Gao. Yang Xin in the Southern Song Dynasty called Zhao Gao "a good seal character" in "Picking Names from Ancient Books". Tang Zhanghuai's Shuduan (Book Break) was published in Dazhuan: "Zhao Gao is good at seal cutting. Teach the first emperor's youngest son, Hu Hai. " He is the author of six chapters.
