Annotation translation editor

Word annotation

Mo Mei: Ink painting plum blossoms. It is also written as "dark and pale plum, a treasure in plum blossoms".

My home: my home. The hometown of Wang Xizhi, a calligrapher in Jin Dynasty. Because Wang Xizhi and Wang Mian have the same surname and hometown, they compare themselves.

Xiyan Lake: a pool for washing pens and inkstones after writing and drawing. It is said that Zhong You practiced calligraphy when he was young, and often used the pool next to his home to wash his brush, so that the whole pool was dark in the end. When Wang Xizhi of the Eastern Jin Dynasty said that "the middle school books in the pool are as dark as the water in the pool", it was an allusion to boast that he loved the art and culture of calligraphy and painting.

Head: On the side.

All: the meaning of flowering.

Light ink: In ink painting, there are four kinds of ink colors, such as clear ink, light ink, thick ink and Jiao Mo. What is said here is that the plum blossoms are dotted with faint ink.

Mark: One mark, one mark leaves.

Flow: it means circulation and distribution. Many versions are "left".

Qingqi: The so-called Qingqi is naturally fragrant to plum blossoms, but it also implies the lofty spirit of self-love. The so-called clear gas means elegance, righteousness and harmony.

Man Gankun: All over the world. M: Diffuse. Gan Kun: refers to the world between heaven and earth. [ 1]

Vernacular translation

A plum blossom growing in Xiyan Lake seems to be a trace of no bright color left after washing the pen with light ink.

It doesn't need others to praise its color, but only cares about filling the faint fragrance between heaven and earth.

Creative background editing

This poem was written in about nine to ten years from Yuan Shundi to Zheng Zheng (1349- 1350). Wang Mian returned to Shaoxing after a long-distance roaming, and bought land to build a house in Jiulishan, Huiji, and named it Meihua House, since he was the owner of Meihua House. This poem was written in the plum blossom house. At this time, on the eve of the peasant uprising at the end of Yuan Dynasty, facing the insoluble contradictions in real life, the author wrote this poem emotionally. [3]

Overall appreciation

This poem praises the boasting of Mo Mei and Dont Ask For Help, and only wants to leave a fragrance of virtue for the world. In fact, it is a metaphor of Mei, expressing his life attitude and noble sentiment.

The first two sentences, "The first tree in my family, Xiyan Lake, is blooming with faint ink marks", which directly describes Mo Mei. In the painting, the plum trees by the pond are in full bloom, and the plum blossoms are stained with a faint ink color. "West Wild Goose Lake" is the allusion of Wang Xizhi's "middle school books in the pool, and the water in the pool is all black".

Three or four sentences praise Mo Mei's moral integrity. It is painted in light ink, although its appearance is not exquisite, it has a beautiful, noble and dignified, secluded and detached inner temperament; It doesn't want to attract people, please people and get people's praise with bright colors. It just wants to send out a fragrance and let it stay between heaven and earth. These two sentences are the poet's self-portrayal. Wang Mian grew up in a poor family, herding cattle during the day and studying hard under the ever-burning lamps of Buddhist temples at night. Finally, he learned a lot. He is good at poetry and painting, and he is versatile. However, he tried every time and didn't want to curry favor with the powerful, so he decided to gain fame and fortune, live in seclusion in Jiulishan, East Zhejiang, and draw rice for a living. The phrase "don't boast of lewdness, just leave one breath to dry Kun" shows the poet's vulgar, independent and unrequited character.

In this poem, a "light" and a "full" have their own personalities. On the one hand, the richness of Mo Mei and the image of the poet's pride are vividly on the paper; On the other hand, it makes people feel that the fragrance of calligraphy and plum blossoms seems to come to their faces. Thus, the "poetic style", "painting style" and personality are skillfully integrated together, with realm, boldness, indifference and straightforward music, which is unique in Yuan poetry. [ 1] [4]

Famous comments

Li Yinsheng, a professor at the Chinese Department of Guangxi University, A Classic Reading of China's Poetry: "The whole poem reflects the noble and upright spirit through the description of plum blossom character, and shows that the author does not cater to the secular noble integrity." [5]

Cai Yijiang, vice president of China Classical Literature Popularization Research Association, wrote "300 quatrains": "When this poem narrates Mo Mei's painting, the language is very humorous ... The poem has great personality and the author deserves it." [6]

Author profile editor

Wang Mian (A.D. 1287- 1359), a native of Qiaofeng, Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province, was a famous painter, poet and seal engraver in Yuan Dynasty. He was born in poverty, herded cattle for others in his childhood, and became a success by self-study. He is aloof and despises powerful people. His poems sympathize with people's sufferings, condemn rich and powerful people, despise fame and fortune, and describe rural seclusion. Zhu Zhai Ji consists of three volumes and two sequels. I love plum blossoms all my life, planting plum blossoms and Yongmei, and attacking and painting plum blossoms. The painted plum blossom flowers are dense, full of business, vigorous and powerful, which has a great influence on future generations. It can be used for seal cutting, and the seal is made of flower stone. The seal cutting technique is wonderful. There is a biography of Ming history. [
