Lushan temple monument
This era is Tang. Located on the hillside behind Yuelu Academy in Changsha City, Hunan Province. This monument is one of the famous monuments in China.
The inscription was written by Li Yong, a calligrapher in Tang Dynasty, in the 18th year of Kaiyuan (730). The stone tablet is 400 cm high and 144 cm wide. The inscription is sealed with the words "Lushan Temple Monument". The inscription is 28 lines, each line has 56 words, in regular script, the left corner is missing, a small piece falls off the lower right corner, one third of the missing words are damaged, and the characters are destroyed by 36 1. From the first half 16 line, there is not a word left; There are 90 words left in the second half. In Qing Dynasty, Tao Shu talked about the reasons for the fracture of the tablet in "Preface to the Poems on the Old rubbings of the Temple Monument in Lushan Mountain": "In the early years of Jiaqing, some dignitaries sent officials to take it without using the law, so the tablet was cracked, or Dayun officials wanted to engrave it, so the tablet was broken." Changsha magistrate and putty set residual characters (* * * 94 words) are placed on the side of the monument, so we can't change the old view. The Annals of Hunan written by Guangxu in Qing Dynasty wrote: "This monument is 1,413 words, with 271 words broken. "After investigation, between 65438 and 000, another 90 words were lost.
The inscription describes the spread of the famous monk's statement presided over by Lushan Temple since its establishment, and lists the contributions of famous monks and related officials to the temple one by one. Calligraphy is vigorous and powerful, which shows that wrist strength is used well. It should be a masterpiece of Li Yong's life and a rare monument in the Tang Dynasty.
Li Yong (678~747) was born in Jiangdu, Yangzhou. At first, it was an admonition officer, and later it was a magistrate in Beihai. His name is Li Beihai, and he is good at calligraphy, especially at carving inscriptions, taking Wang Xizhi's method and making innovations. Therefore, there is a saying that "the right army is like a dragon and the North Sea is like an elephant". It can be seen that predecessors spoke highly of his calligraphy.
On July 24th 1956, Hunan Provincial People's Committee announced it as a provincial-level cultural relics protection unit, No.4..
