Banqiao style refers to a calligraphy font written by Zheng Banqiao, commonly known as Banqiao style. It has official script and running script, which is neither formal nor modern. The single font of his works seems crooked, but the overall feeling is patchy and unique. Some people say, "this kind of works are indispensable, and there cannot be two stories." When Zheng Banqiao was young, he devoted himself to copying the works of famous artists in past dynasties, and the copying works reached the point where the fake was confused with the real. However, this did not make him famous and still did not attract the attention of the world.
Wake up from a dream, write a word on your leg with your finger, write it, write it on your wife. The wife woke up with a start and asked discontentedly, "You have your body and I have mine. Why not practice on yourself? " The speaker has no intention, but the listener has intention. Zheng Banqiao got unexpected inspiration from his wife's words.
Since then, I have been trying to find a new way to achieve mastery through a comprehensive study. On the basis of absorbing the strengths of major calligraphers, I worked hard to forge my own style and created a unique "six books and a half", which is often called "Banqiao style". At this point, I became famous and began to be praised as a calligrapher.
Zheng Banqiao only painted orchids, bamboos and stones in his life, which is known as "orchids that never fade in four seasons, bamboos that never fall for a hundred days, and invincible stones that never change". His poems, paintings and calligraphy, known as the "three wonders" in the world, are more representative literati painters in the Qing Dynasty. Representative works include Zhuxiu Novelty, Guangqing Liu Zhao, Zhu Lan Fang Xin, Gangu Juquan, Cong Lan Ci, and Zheng Banqiao Collection.
Extended data:

Ouyang Xiu's Poems of Autumn Sound of Xiaozhuan at the age of 23 and Poems of Xiaozhuan at the age of 30 infer that Banqiao learned books from Ou Yangxun in his early years. Its font is neat and beautiful, but slightly stiff: this is related to the neat and charming pavilion style prevailing in the book world at that time, and it is the standard font for selecting candidates in the imperial examination.
