Zheng, a native of Fujian, 1882 was a candidate for the eight-year entrance examination in Guangxu, Qing Dynasty. After the Revolution of 1911, he called himself an old man and vowed not to be an official of the Republic of China and never to recognize the name of the Republic of China, so all his poems and calligraphy were inscribed with the name Xuantong. Although he lived in seclusion in the sea burial building and even reduced to selling words for a living, his life was not bad. At that time, each word was worth 12 taels of silver, which was enough for the salary of Professor Tsinghua Peking University for half a month. His fame is getting bigger and bigger and his temper is getting bigger and bigger. A wealthy businessman asked him to write a signboard with two thousand pieces of silver per word. However, the rich businessman asked him to sign the date of the Republic of China. Zheng is very unhappy. He was reduced to selling words because of the Republic of China, so he tore up the written words and vowed not to help him write.
Because of this rich businessman, his reputation is getting louder and louder. Even the president of Bank of Communications entrusted him to write an inscription for the bank, without mercy. He directly asked for one or two gold words to write the word Bank of Communications. So the word Bank of Communications that we see now comes from him.
However, it is such a great talent with reputation, temper and both poetry and books, but he is willing to work for the Japanese and be a traitor.
