The Central University of Finance and Economics is a national "2 1 1 Project" key university directly under the Ministry of Education, a national "innovation platform for superior disciplines" and one of the first 46 universities in the "National Construction of High-level Universities Project". The school's predecessor was the Central Taxation School, which was founded in 1949. It is a financial institution directly established by the Central People's Government of New China. After the development stages of Central Institute of Finance, Central Institute of Finance and Economics and Central Institute of Finance and Economics, it was renamed as Central University of Finance and Economics on 1996.
