Li Dongyang's official career was smooth after he was admitted to Jinshi. He has been an editor, lecturer, Shao Qing of Taichang Temple, and right assistant minister of Libu. In the eighth year of Hongzhi in Emperor Xiaozong of Ming Dynasty (1490), Li Dongyang served as a university student in Wenyuan Pavilion, joined the Pavilion to participate in confidential affairs, and called him a virtuous minister. Li Dongyang is not only famous for his calligraphy, but also a famous writer. In his later years, when he saw Liu Jin, the eunuch, in charge of state affairs, Zheng De, the emperor of the Ming Dynasty, was dissolute, and repeated exhortations did not help. Li Dongyang resolutely resigned as the record holder and returned to his hometown for retirement. He joined the cabinet 18 years, and has been in the DPRK for a long time, with a high status. He is not only knowledgeable, but also can reward his later studies and recommend his talents. Therefore, many literary scholars gathered around him and formed an influential school of poets. Li Dongyang was a leading figure in the literary world in the middle of Ming Dynasty. Therefore, Ming Shi wrote: "At the time of Hongzhi, Prime Minister Li Dongyang wrote the main text, and the world mourned."
