At present, there are two systems of calligraphy grade examination. One is the China Calligraphy and Painting Grade Examination sponsored by Beijing Education Examinations Institute.
The other is the social calligraphy proficiency test sponsored by the Calligraphers Association. The former was approved by the education department, while the latter was approved by the Ministry of Culture.
