This cost him a lot of energy and physical strength, and he broke down from constant overwork; In addition, his life is unrestrained, too much sex life and the torture of illness make him live in the struggle with the disease day and night, and his mental burden is great. In particular, his family suffered a series of misfortunes, and lost relatives, which caused great trauma to his spirit.
In March of the sixth year of Shunzhi (1649), many younger brothers who were only 36 years old died of smallpox. Then his two brothers and sisters, Fujin of Azig, died of smallpox one after another. All these have formed a great psychological burden on the sickly Dourgen. He always feels that his family is in decline, and sometimes he feels that disaster is coming, and maybe one day it will come to him.
Sure enough, in the same year1February, his concubine Bolzigit also died of smallpox. He held a grand funeral for Princess Yuan, and asked officials with more than two white flags and their wives to put on clothes, and asked officials with more than six flags to take off their tassels to show their condolences. In the first month of the seventh year of Shunzhi (1650), Dourgen posthumously awarded Bolzigit as the princess of Gong Zheng Palace, and inscribed on the jade treasure book, hoping that the family disaster would pass at an early date.
The successive death of relatives has caused great mental trauma and heavy psychological burden to Dourgen. In addition, he continued to lead troops to fight, both inside and outside, determined to win. Finally, his sick body was hard to support and he was forced to rest at home. One day in July in the seventh year of Shunzhi (1650), Dourgen rested at home and felt bored. Fu Lin's bodyguard minister Han Xi and others are visiting at home. Dourgen was very unhappy that Fu Lin didn't visit him in person, so he said to Xi Han and others. I have just suffered the greatest grief (referring to the death of Princess Yuan) and I am not feeling well. Although the emperor is the Lord of all peoples, I have suffered such great misfortune. According to family etiquette, I should also visit me. ? Then he said angrily: The emperor is young, but you are all ministers around him! ? Although he is very dissatisfied with this, he has realized in his heart that the emperor has grown up and seems to be about to return to politics. He feels that he will not be lonely for long. So he said:? Don't let the emperor come to my house just because I said these things. ? It can be seen that Dourgen is physically ill and psychologically fragile.
1 1 month 13, due to illness, dourgen was agitated and led the kings, Baylor, Beizi, Gong, Gushan Ezhen and others to hunt outside. However, he did not expect that this was his last hunting. After coming out, he never came back, and suddenly died outside in Kara City.
How did Dourgen die? The records in Qing Shi Lu are short and vague. According to the notes in the early Qing Dynasty, when Dourgen went out hunting with the kings and others, he suddenly felt dizzy and fell off his horse and hurt his knee. The local people daubed his wound with plaster, and he barely supported himself to move on. Later, the cavalry rushed a tiger into the shortlist, and Dourgen missed three arrows in a row. At this time, he felt unbearable pain in his knees and weakness in his arms, so he rushed back to the camp. At this point, the king saw that he was pale and couldn't afford to fall on the saddle, so he quickly found a stretcher and carried Dourgen to the nearby city of Kara. Soon after, Dourgen died before he could explain the aftermath! It was the seventh day of 39 years old1February.
The news of Dourgen's death came to Beijing like a thunderbolt, which shocked the whole country. Fu Lin was also very sad about the death of his uncle Regent. He ordered people all over the world to change clothes and mourn. When Dourgen's hearse returned to Beijing, the emperor shunzhi led the kings, Baylor, civil and military officials to meet him 50 miles outside Dongzhimen. More than 100 years later, in the forty-third year of Qianlong (1778), Emperor Qianlong issued a letter to officially rehabilitate Dourgen and restore his reputation.
