Chen Xizeng (1770-1820), whose courtesy name was Ji Zheng and whose nickname was Xuexiang, was born in Zhongxian, Xincheng, Jiangxi Province (now Zhongtian Township, Lichuan County, Jiangxi Province). Minister of the Ministry of Government and Industry. Calligrapher of Qing Dynasty. When he was young, he and his brother Chen Xizu were classmates with Lu Jiugao, a famous writer in the Qing Dynasty. Chen Xizeng, Chen Xizu, and Chen Yongguang are all his proud students. In the fifty-fourth year of Qianlong's reign (1789), he won the title of "Jieyuan" (first place in the provincial examination), and in the fifty-eighth year of Qianlong's reign (the third place in the first grade of Jinshi). He has successively served as editor of the Hanlin Academy, Zuo Chunfang Zanshan, concubine, minister of the Hanlin Academy, bachelor of ministers, official of daily affairs, Zhan Shi, cabinet bachelor and minister of the Ministry of Rites, vice president of Wenyuan Pavilion, left minister of the Ministry of Industry, and minister of engineering. The right minister of the Ministry of Finance, the vice-president of Wuying Palace, the right minister of the Ministry of Revenue and the affairs of Qian Fatang, the left minister of the Ministry of Personnel, the right minister of the Ministry of Punishment, etc. During this period, he also served as the deputy examiner of Yunnan, Guizhou, and Jiangnan rural examinations, the chief examiner of Shuntian rural examinations, and the paper reader of the imperial examinations. He studied politics in Sichuan, Shanxi, and Jiangnan, and presided over criminal and prison trials in Zhejiang and Fujian. He successively served as the Minister of Hu, Li, Gong, Li, and Xingbu, and he was known as the "Minister of the Five Ministries" in the world. Died of illness in the 25th year of Jiaqing (1820).
