The History of Changde Poetry Wall

The construction of Changde Poetry Wall in China originated from the creativity of Mr. Wu Shunsheng, a former CPPCC member. 199 1, Wu Shunsheng proposed to use the opportunity of renovating urban flood control levees to build them into artistic walls with both flood control and cultural taste. Changde Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government quickly adopted this proposal, and completed this large-scale cultural project with distinctive artistic characteristics based on Yuanjiang flood control levee on 10.

In 2000, Changde Municipal Party Committee and Municipal People's Government implemented the plan of "Step-by-Step Development of Poetry Wall, Bund and Shui Yuan", relocated the gravel yard of Poetry Wall Bund, demolished the original buildings and carefully built Poetry Wall Park. After three years of construction, a 6-mile-long scenic belt has been formed. There are more than 30 kinds of trees/kloc-0 in the park, such as ginkgo, camphor, willow and banyan, and more than 60,000 square meters of water-resistant turf is planted, dotted with various scenic spots and wonders of the Five Tombs.

On September 5, 2000, the Guinness Headquarters in Shanghai officially named it "the longest artistic wall of poetry, calligraphy and painting in the world", which made it enter the history of world cultural projects.
