In The Story of Yueyang Tower, why are there two identical stories about Yueyang Tower? On the first and second floors of Yueyang Tower, there are two mahogany woodcarving screens named "The Story of Yueyang Tower", which were written by Zhang Zhao, a great calligrapher and minister of punishments in Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty. Why hang two pictures? The two "Yueyang Tower" are actually different. The one on the first floor is fake, and the one on the second floor is genuine. There are stories in it.
During the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty, a magistrate of Wu saw Zhang Zhao's "The Story of Yueyang Tower" and marveled at Zhang Zhao's calligraphy, exquisite carvings and valuable wood. He wanted to keep this treasure for himself, so he asked someone to copy a carved screen. However, the engraver was not satisfied with originality, so he deliberately carved the word "ju", that is, "the height of the temple worries about its people", in order to allude to the ulterior motives of the county magistrate. When the county magistrate left office, he took the real thing with him. Unexpectedly, when the boat arrived at Dongting Lake, it was stormy and the boat capsized. The screen sank to the bottom of the lake. When the water level is low, the fishermen will fish it out. When the Yueyang Tower was rebuilt in the Republic of China, Wu, a famous scholar in Baling, bought it for 2 yuan and hung it again.
Because the handwriting of the two pieces of "The Story of Yueyang Tower" is so similar, even the counterfeits have a history of more than 1 years, so the true and false carved screens of "The Story of Yueyang Tower" are hung together on the first and second floors of Yueyang Tower.
Yueyang Tower has four columns and three floors, cornices and hats, and is made of pure wood structure. The four pillars in the building are towering, and the roof eaves are pecked. It is resplendent and magnificent, like a helmet on the head of a military attache. This is a typical Qing Dynasty building.
We visited floor by floor, and saw a carved screen of Yueyang Tower embedded between the first floor and the second floor. The tour guide said that the first floor was an imitation, carved by an anonymous sculptor, and the second floor was a treasure. It was written by Fan Zhongyan and written by Zhang Zhao, a great calligrapher in Qing Dynasty. When the tour guide read The Story of Yueyang Tower in Mandarin, we couldn't help reciting it, but it still appeared in front of us.
Walking on the third floor, looking out of the window, I can't see anything clearly in Dongting Lake in the distance. Near the surface of the water, there are merchant docks, and the water and the sky are the same, and the spring rain is continuous!
At present, Yueyang Tower Scenic Area has too strong commercial atmosphere and insufficient cultural atmosphere; Yueyang Tower is famous all over the world because of "The Story of Yueyang Tower", and it is celebrated through the ages because of Yueyang Tower, which is the wealth left by our ancestors. It is both material and spiritual and should not be over-commercialized.
