Plum blossom
Wang Qing Shen Shi
One or two rows of plum blossoms were planted in the yard, and the paintings were empty and full of clothes.
This is a poem inscribed by Wang, a famous painter and calligrapher in Qing Dynasty, on the volume of Momotu. Wang You is good at painting plums, and there are many plum trees in his house. He was blind in his left eye when he painted this picture. He is one of the "Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou", and draws for a living. However, Wang's misfortune does not stop there. The left eye is blind and the pain in the right eye is aggravated. In this regard, Wang is very calm. It seems to him that it is only a matter of time before he loses his right eye. Therefore, before he lost his ability to observe, he enjoyed watching flowers and scenery. At this time, the plum blossoms in his works are still blooming alone, standing in the ice without losing their elegance, and the east wind still leaves a lingering fragrance. It shows that an artist never gives up the noble quality of art under his own adversity or poverty, and his strong and optimistic personality.
