What words were used in Han Dynasty, Song Dynasty and Ming Dynasty?

Han inherited the Qin system and used seal script at the earliest. Later, seal script declined, official script flourished and reached its peak in the Eastern Han Dynasty. The cursive script (Cao Zhang) developed into a relatively mature font in the Han Dynasty. Regular script and running script also began to sprout. Stone carvings and bamboo slips and silks are the main carriers of calligraphy in Han Dynasty.

regular script

From the perspective of font structure, regular script is similar to official script, but it changes the writing method of official script strokes, from flat official script to basic square regular script, which is called "square character". Regular script is also called official script and original script, which shows that regular script is a regular script for people to learn and use. The earliest regular script writer was Zhong You in the late Eastern Han Dynasty. In his handed down works, the brushwork of official script is still reserved. Regular script experienced many changes in Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, and was basically finalized after Sui and Tang Dynasties. After the script is finalized, it is quite exquisite and rigorous in strokes and structure, such as the works of Ou Yangxun, a famous calligrapher in the Tang Dynasty.

After China characters entered the regular script stage, the font continued to be simplified, but the font changed little. Printing, as one of the four great inventions in China, uses regular script as the main font for printing books. In the Song Dynasty, the regular script was refined to make it more regular and beautiful, and it was called "Song Style". Later, it was called "Song Style Imitation". The fonts used in books and newspapers we read today are generally variations of this style.

Ming style is also Song style.

? Songti was actually founded by Qin Gui, but because he was a traitor, people didn't want to give him a reputation. Although Qin Gui is well-read, he is very accomplished in calligraphy. He integrated the strengths of his predecessors, established his own family and created printing fonts. According to the general custom, it should be called Qin Tizi. Such as Liu Zongyuan's Liu Ti and Yan Zhenqing's Yan Ti. However, people hate him because of his bad personality. Although he used his own font, he named it Songti.

? The Song Dynasty originated in the Song Dynasty, but was founded in the Ming Dynasty. The culture of the Song Dynasty was very prosperous, especially woodcut printing. During the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, a large number of Song editions were reprinted, which led to the establishment of Song fonts in the Ming Dynasty.
