Luqiao district's civilization originated from the advanced Central Plains culture brought by Xu Yanwang's southern crossing in the late Zhou Dynasty. Many celebrities have stopped here in the long river of history: the great calligrapher Wang Xizhi has been to Luqiao, leaving "Mo Chi, the right army"; Jian Zhen, a master of the Tang Dynasty, gave a lecture at Xiangyan Temple before crossing to the east.
