A brief introduction of Yu Qiuyu's Millennium sigh. In urgent need. . . .

I have read this book, and the introduction in the encyclopedia is quite good.

A sigh in the Millennium, a collection of diary-style essays, written by Yu Qiuyu.

A Millennium Sigh is another masterpiece of Mr. Yu Qiuyu. Different from the past, it is a diary. At the turn of the Millennium, Mr. Yu Qiuyu trekked 4, kilometers with the off-road vehicle team of Hong Kong Phoenix TV's "Millennium Tour". This book completely recorded the experience of 4, trips. In this book, the author records the decline of Islamic civilization, two rivers civilization, Arab civilization, Indian civilization, ancient Egyptian civilization, Hebrew civilization and other civilizations with sentimental, heavy and plain language, and probes into the root causes of the decline, and gradually finds out the reasons why Chinese civilization continues through comparison.

Mr. Wang said in the preface:

"It's not just a wasteland. There are ruined castles, dark shadows and sparkling eyes in the depths of the wasteland. It is untrue to insist that I have no fear, but more than half of my fear habits are covered by shock, and the huge structure that shocked human civilization collapsed so desolate. How on earth did they collapse? History books have provided some speculative answers, most of which are large and vague. In fact, all the damage is concrete, and all the grievances are hard to express, so those answers are also questionable. There is no doubt that as a result, decaying grass and rubble bear disasters from ancient times to the present.

We are willing to face all this in the danger of no protection mechanism, just like taking off gloves to touch their scars.

This kind of touching often leads to thinking: As the base of our life, Chinese civilization is also scarred, but how can we avoid the overall collapse? How much did this avoidance cost? Which costs are positive and which costs are negative? Can past avoidance guarantee the future?

more importantly, how long will it take for the young and energetic civilizations in the world to repeat the fate of the rise and fall of most ancient civilizations?

This question runs through the whole diary. "

Attachment: Preface

I

This is a diary, which records my experience of trekking 4, kilometers with Hong Kong Phoenix TV's "Millennium Tour" off-road vehicle team at the turn of the Millennium.

We went to look for the roadbed of ancient human civilization, but we found that there were so many roads with blurred grass, dense trenches and bandits. The wheels of the jeep rolled over one kilometer and one kilometer close to the ground, completely unaware of what would happen in the next kilometer. All they knew was a series of real horror stories: here, religious extremists shot and killed dozens of foreign travelers in a few minutes; There, three groups of foreign hostages were kidnapped by anti-government forces in the past two months; Further, more than 3 policemen have just been killed by drug cartels ...

Before, when I visited the existing primitive culture in China on the spot and wrote "Cultural Journey" and "Notes on Mountain Living", I also devoted myself to physical adventures and spiritual adventures again and again, but compared with this time, I always found help and protection in a roundabout way. I remember once I lost my way in the mountains in order to catch the early ferry. I followed a few old coughs and found a cabin to watch the mountain people, and I got some advice. Once again, when I got lost at night and met someone from the other side, I was afraid and deliberately hummed with courage, and the people from the other side hummed the same. I didn't trust each other until I passed by and smiled back. This kind of opportunity is hard to meet this time. The small motorcade is like a few ants crawling on the wasteland, and any kind of unexplained violence can twist them to pieces.

it's not just wasteland.

2

It is not easy to keep a diary every day during such an adventure.

at first, no one expected me to insist on going through these countries one by one. Due to the need of work, many presenters, directors, photographers and drivers are rotating in batches. After Chen Luyu returned to Hong Kong, he felt guilty every time he ate, feeling sorry for his brothers who continued to suffer abroad, so that he couldn't help but say hello after every news festival. A few of these brothers have never been rotated, and one of them is me

Unfortunately, we can't hear Chen Luyu's greetings, because we have no time to watch TV. After driving for more than ten hours every day, I couldn't buy anything decent to eat along the way. After I found the hotel, I was still hungry and sleepy, so I fell asleep, but my friends would look at me with concern before going to sleep. Everyone knew that I had to stay up late to write. I can't smoke. I can only refresh myself by drinking tea, but there is no boiled water in hotel rooms in ten countries along the way. Zhao Wei, who is in the same car, carries his own thermos cup every day and goes to the restaurant with a big smile to ask the waiter for half a cup of remaining black tea, and then pours it to me. Other partners know that I like radishes, and every time I go to a city, I look for them all over the street. Finally, I bought a black radish and sent it in Iran. Unfortunately, this black radish is really terrible.

I can't write in many places, so I can only write in the car and squat on the side of the road, so most of my handwriting is crooked. These handwriting will be transmitted to Wan Li by satellite on the same day, and the receiver can't read it clearly, which will cause many mistakes and errors in the publication of newspapers and periodicals at home and abroad. I took the manuscript with me in a plastic laundry bag until a few minutes before I entered Iraq. The laundry bag was printed with Israeli Hebrew, so stop and change it quickly, or I don't know how serious the consequences will be if it is found by Iraqi customs. How can I make it clear that this thick pile of hieroglyphs packed in enemy Japanese bags is actually a "diary"?

When crossing the border between Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan, which is the most dangerous area in the world at present, I put this package of manuscripts in my backpack closest to my body. Even in my dreams, I was in a mess of running away with this package of manuscripts, and every time I ran away, the result was the same: snowflake-like pages fell in pieces among the barren hills, and gangsters rushed to grab it, but I didn't know what it was.

For this reason, I cherish this writing style, and I am willing to carefully preserve its original state and rough state. I will only submit this package of manuscripts to the publishing house after the motorcade enters Beijing on the Spring Festival, and basically do not make any arrangement and modification. This kind of practice is a bit like modern performance art, in which everything is done only in the process of behavior, and painting is no longer done outside the behavior. It is also a bit like China's calligraphy, where there are always many regrets after a stroke of the pen, but it is not appropriate to paint the face after the pen is closed. The roots are climbing, the mud and water stains are kept, and the picture is true.

This is also a marginal test about writing attitude. There is no data to verify, no time to ponder the sentence, and it has been sent out and published before it is revised, which completely blocks any attempt to "learn" or "make a fuss". There is still a trace of "doing" in my early prose, which is easy to touch some areas I have left. This time, I can finally express myself in this way. Compared with the written end, I value footsteps more; Compared with the article, I pay more attention to life; Compared with fine, I am more embarrassed. Sighs on the wasteland are always rough. If I want to adjust them into soft voices in the study or shrill voices in the salon, how can I live up to my resignation and travel many years ago?

the longer the time, the happier I am with my choice. What supports my choice is the vast number of silent readers. Just walk back here with peace of mind and feel refreshed.

Third

We saw so many ancient civilization sites along the way that we all shed tears when we set foot on the land of our motherland again. The extraordinary toughness of Chinese civilization has made our descendants sit up and take notice, but none of us has forgotten that it has never been easy from the past to the present. It would be easy to be destroyed among the grass and stones like other civilizations. I don't think it has been struggling for thousands of years and is still struggling to open up the future for future generations, which makes people pay more attention to its ecological environment.

one of the things that made the team sad after returning to China was that the diary I held in my hand all the way was stolen. Pirate groups took it from the Phoenix website, pretending to be Guangming Daily Publishing House and publishing it under the title of Millennium Diary, openly indicating that it was printed for the first time for 5, copies and sold well for several weeks, and now it has basically been sold out. Traditionally, piracy has always been punished according to the number of prints, so piracy groups always try to keep the number of prints as small as possible. This time, being so bold is equivalent to telling the world how much profit they can make, regardless of what crime they should be sentenced to.

most of the team's partners know little about the domestic cultural circles, and they don't understand why cultural thieves are so arrogant when they have committed a big crime. I said with a smile, there is something bolder. Reporters from Jiayuguan and Chengdu told me that during my long trip, a college student actually fabricated my history 3 years ago based on the rumors of so-called "colleagues of that year" and printed it in black and white. A reporter pointed out to his face that his forgery did not conform to common sense and logic. The college student calmly replied that he was not all aimed at me. "Some doctoral supervisors in Peking University and Tsinghua even went to the principal." (China Newsweek, issue 3, version B, page 11) slandered a lot in the most relaxed tone, and even the unit and position were specified.

These two robberies and slanders happened to be met by the motorcade in the middle of the road, which was a bit accidental, but the arrogance shown during them was really jaw-dropping. This arrogance needs soil, and as long as the soil exists, it will inevitably continue to spread. Therefore, we have to be cautious about some optimism that has just recovered.

We have just returned from the ruins, and we have a little understanding of the mystery of the rise and fall of civilization. I think, whenever and wherever, if cultural robbery and cultural slander have reached the point where there is no need to hide them, then even whimsical children will pretend to be judges and pull out one or two intellectuals casually to make them bow their heads and regret; If this chaos is not stopped for a long time, even the once-surprised bystanders will gradually become adaptors, appreciators and participants. At this time, all local inversions will inevitably lead to overall inversions by domino effect, until the stone pillars occupy the land and the grass meets the sky.

IV

By the way, there is a small decision to explain to readers.

In view of the fact that the pirated version of my book has been far more than the original version in the domestic market, and it has flowed into the overseas Chinese document market in large quantities, I have repeatedly written articles over the past few years to expose that it is not only ineffective but also besieged, so I have to stop writing and no longer provide goods for pirated groups.

I insist on opposing piracy, mainly not because of personal economic losses. If we only consider this point, it is completely acceptable to collect the huge sum of money and lure from pirates many years ago, and they have already lived in peace. What I can't tolerate is that the spiritual communication between an author and the readers is actually arranged by a group of thieves; I don't want to see that these thieves can buy public opinion and seal people up with huge sums of money illegally obtained, without any obstacles. I admit that I am alone, and I am at my wit's end in the struggle with them. I can only use my last right. Dear readers, please forgive me, but I have no other choice.

At most, I will write a group of articles on piracy and slander, which are specially designed for them to pirate. The more copies, the better. The autobiography, which has already been written, has also added the most important chapter because of the stories of the past two years, but its publication will have to wait until the piracy frenzy is stopped.

personally, this cutting is both passive and active. From academic research, teaching youth administration to on-the-spot investigation and essay writing, I have experienced many thorough interruptions and transformations. Every time I left when others thought I was in the best state, I started from scratch again and again, which can be called self-abandonment, self-accumulation and self-demolition, in order to avoid the inertia and rigidity of life. I am a traveler, and I don't want to stay somewhere for too long. Comfortable shanzhai is easy to bury fears, rich springs are easy to stay in life, and any detention is self-blocking, any settlement is a trap of creation, any fame will lead to competition, and any competition includes damage. Therefore, if there were no external factors, I should have got up and left. In this recent paragraph of my life, I have published four books since I courageously learned to write my first essay, namely, Cultural Journey, Notes on Living in a Mountain, Frosty River, and A Millennium Sigh, which is just the end.
