What does World Wen Shu mean?

"Wen Shu in the World" means that ancient Nanjing was the center of world culture, and it also refers to the location of Confucius Temple, the first national highest institution of learning in China (that is, the Nanjing Confucius Temple built in Taiyuan in the Eastern Jin Dynasty in the ninth year).

"Wen Shu in the World" originated from the Nanjing Confucian Temple (Nanjing Confucius Temple) rebuilt during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. It is a famous cultural relic in Ming and Qing Dynasties. It was written by Chen Shu, a famous calligrapher in the early Qing Dynasty. The four characters "Wen Shu in the World" on the forehead of this workshop, selected from Yan Zhenqing's copybook, are the first entrance to the Confucian Temple.

Nanjing Confucius Temple used to be a place where talents gathered. Throughout the ages, countless literati have lingered here, admiring the grandeur of Confucius Temple, leaving more than 3,000 masterpieces handed down from generation to generation here. It used to be a place of learning palaces, academies and imperial examinations that lasted for more than 1000 years, and delivered a large number of talents to the country. It is one of the most important cultural shrines in China for more than 2,000 years.

Why Nanjing has a "world literary hub"

China's first monograph on poetic theory and criticism, the first monograph on literary theory and criticism, Wen Xin Diao Long, and the first children's enlightenment book, Qian, were all born in Nanjing.

During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, more than half of the top scholars in China came from Gongyuan in the south of the Yangtze River, which was unparalleled. Therefore, Nanjing is also known as the literary hub of the world. Zheng Banqiao, Wen Tianxiang, Wu, Lin Zexu, Zeng Guofan, Zuo and Li Hongzhang are all candidates or examiners of Jiangnan Hiram's Hospital.

A history of Nanjing calligraphy and painting is equal to half of China art history. In the history of calligraphy, Nanjing calligraphers opened the third peak after the pre-Qin and Han Dynasties. In painting, the ancient and modern Jinling School has played a positive role in promoting the development of China art history.

Nanjing has an extraordinary position in the history of Buddhism, and the reappearance of the Buddha's parietal bone has expanded this position from academic circles to the whole world. Southern Buddhism originated in Nanjing, which has become the national Buddhist center several times. "Four hundred and eighty temples in the Southern Dynasties, with many pagodas in misty rain" refers to Nanjing, where the famous Liang Wudi met with the founder of Dharma.
