As the saying goes, writing is like a man, and words see his heart. For a good calligrapher, the style of his works is a comprehensive concentration of personality, character, knowledge, aesthetic taste and skills. The "Fine Exhibition of China Traditional Calligraphy" being held in Guangzhou makes people enter the world of calligraphy, and appreciate a generous, witty, confident and modest gentleman Tian Zimao.

In Guangzhou, where ink is overflowing, there are nearly 100 fine calligraphy works, large and small, hanging in the exquisite exhibition hall. The reporter was lucky enough to meet Tian Zimao, a famous calligrapher who came from Beijing. Although Tian Zimao is still an important secretary of the Secretariat of the Chinese Writers Association, he is as easy-going as a respectable teacher and has a strong literati temperament.

Form their own unique style

Visiting Tian Zimao's calligraphy exhibition is a pleasing process. The ancients often praised the wonderful beauty of calligraphy art with the changes of nature. This is vividly reflected in Tian's works. He learned from the past without being confined to the past, melted the charm of traditional culture into pen and ink, broke the barrier of time and space, and let the breath of modern civilization flow to the pen.

Tian Zimao has a saying that it is "coquettish". He said that learning traditional culture can't help but mention these two words. Confucius is a representative figure who advocates "wind". His famous saying "three people must learn from each other's strengths" says that everyone has strengths or places to learn. Even if you face three losers, you can learn from them and not make mistakes. "See the sage Si Qi, but those who don't see the sage look back." "Sao" is Qu Yuan's proposition. He believes that "although young, he can be a teacher."

Tian Zimao realized that this attitude of the ancients towards learning can still provide us with reference. People often say "lead the way", and to really do it, we must understand the true meaning of traditional culture. No wonder Duo Lei, a famous scholar in Guangdong, commented on Tian Zimao's works in this way: behind the beauty of his calligraphy works, there are the truth, goodness and beauty of Chinese studies, so the truth, goodness and beauty are different.

Long scroll Tao Te Ching

Tian Zimao's most proud work is the 72-meter official script Tao Te Ching. Although the audience missed it in this exhibition. However, from the video materials brought by Tian Zimao, the reporter can get a glimpse of the true meaning of this masterpiece, which took more than half a year to complete. It is really extraordinary.

For this work, Tian Zimao made great efforts. From last winter to July this year, he closed the door except for work and holidays. This Spring Festival, I didn't even answer the phone. After the New Year, turn on your mobile phone and more than 260 messages will pop up. When he couldn't buy dozens of meters of rice paper in the market, he went to Zhejiang to order it. There were countless broken brushes and black ink was used up.

Tian Zimao said that the re-creation of Tao Te Ching in the form of calligraphy art is because he has drawn the essence from Tao Te Ching that can be used by our times, which is deeply related to the mainstream consciousness of building a harmonious socialist society today.

So he chose the version of Zhonghua Book Company from the existing version of 18. "This version of the explanation is most in line with my understanding of the Tao Te Ching." In a 5,000-word Tao Te Ching, there are no fewer than 30 references to "harmony", which coincides with the "harmony" of "harmonious society" on the ideological basis.

It is not difficult to find that Tian Zimao's works are closely related to the theme of "promoting Chinese studies and building a harmonious society". This is a unique theme, which is integrated into calligraphy works and exhibited in public. Currently the only one in China.

Become attached to pen and ink

Tian Zimao, whose calligraphy is now unique, said that he had an indissoluble bond with pen and ink all his life. He was born in a cultural family in Inner Mongolia, where his uncle is a famous calligrapher. His profound family studies made him influenced by calligraphy art since he was a child. He copied Liu Gongquan's regular script 14 as soon as he got started, and then Wei Bei 18 near Zhang Menglong passed. Later, he fell in love with Han Li, and he is good at writing, writing, official script and seal script.

Anyone who has practiced calligraphy knows that this is a "hard job". First of all, you should be tolerant of loneliness. Tian Zimao said that this is not an easy process, but he appreciates suffering more. He gets up at 4 o'clock every morning. After washing and eating breakfast, he began to write. Writing has become a compulsory course for him every day. He often hangs up for hours and his legs are numb.

Interestingly, Tian Zimao has been practicing behind closed doors for decades, but his words are not displayed. Many people around him don't know that his handwriting is good, and his office doesn't have any pen and ink tools to write calligraphy.

Tian Zimao said that calligraphy is the love of his life, but he never thought of becoming famous and getting married. Until March 2005, by chance, one of his works was published in newspapers and periodicals, and it never happened again. Later, the call for papers continued, and more than 180 works have been published in various media and occasions. Tian Zimao, a little makes a mickle, quickly became popular and was called "Tian Zimao phenomenon" by the calligraphy art world.

Tian Zimao, a famous calligrapher, writer and photographer, is currently the secretary of the Secretariat of the Chinese Writers Association. I studied calligraphy since I was a child and loved it. After work, I continued to write. In recent years, his calligraphy works have formed their own style in form and spirit. Some of his works have been published in more than 100 newspapers and magazines such as Master of Fine Arts, Calligraphy and Painting, Contemporary Calligraphy and Painting, Qiushi, etc., and he has participated in calligraphy exhibitions for many times.
