Six years of working experience in central enterprises

Time flies, and it has been six years since I graduated from Normal University in the blink of an eye. I still remember the years when I was in graduate school. I joined the Qicheng team. Under the leadership of senior brother Dagger, I did a lot of job-related club work. I read a lot of job-hunting experience posts on Dandan.com, and then I also wrote some job-hunting experiences myself. I learned a lot from this process, and finally found a satisfying job as I wished.

Now, I also want to write about my workplace experience and understanding since I started working. On the one hand, I feel that after working for six years, I have become very skilled in all aspects of work. I feel that a growth stage has ended. It’s time to summarize for myself; on the other hand, I read a lot of job search experience posts on Dandan.com and gained a lot. Now I also want to share my experience in the past few years with my juniors and juniors, hoping to be able to help them with their careers. Planning and job search path helps.

I studied science and engineering at National Normal University, majoring in science and engineering. I graduated with a master's degree in 2012. After graduation, I went to the largest provincial branch of a central enterprise in the country, and I have been with this company ever since. I started working in government agencies and departments, initially doing data statistics work, and now I am also responsible for government channels and operations management.

At that time, I chose this job for three reasons: The first consideration was the "job position", which was consistent with my major. This had several advantages. First, the major did not If you give up, the time and effort you have put into your profession will not be in vain; secondly, you will have a competitive advantage at work, and professional positions will not be easily replaced, and the value of the position will be relatively high; thirdly, you will do what you are good at. Things will become easier for you and your sense of accomplishment will be stronger.

The second consideration is "industry prospects." The industry our company is in is closely related to the development of the country's foreign economic and trade. At that time, my judgment was that the scale of our foreign economic and trade would definitely continue to expand (about this point, there are still There is a little story. During the question-and-answer session at the end of the interview, I asked the general manager what he thought about the future of the industry. The general manager smiled and said that you were testing me, and then I quickly answered and said mine. My opinion, the general manager replied, you are right. Later, I personally felt that this question was a bonus for my interview.) Looking back now, my country’s foreign trade scale has indeed continued to grow in recent years, and it was proposed. The major strategy of “One Belt, One Road”.

The third consideration is the "city where I am located." When I graduated, I wanted to stay in Beijing. The pressure of life was already very high, and the environment and climate in Beijing were not as good as those in the south, so I decided after comprehensive consideration. Left Beijing. But I was unwilling to give up the development opportunities in big cities, so I finally chose a second-tier city in the south. Life in second-tier cities will be more comfortable, and it is more suitable to start a family first and then start a career. Of course, development opportunities will be much less than in first-tier cities. This depends on personal choice.

Our company has not been established for a long time, and the hierarchy is relatively flat. My superior is the division director, and my superior is the general manager. I am not a great person. I am currently a key employee in the department, but I have also won some awards in the company. Therefore, I don’t have any great experiences to share with you. This article is mainly a summary of my own work over the past six years.

In the past six years, I have learned a lot, both macro and abstract, such as how to deal with people and ways of thinking, and also micro and concrete, such as working methods and work skills. . But the most important thing is that after doing it, there are mainly a few things that have helped me the most in my work or growth.

The first is "accumulation".

I remember when I was applying for a job, I heard Dagger tell a story about a Guanghua big shot applying for a job at the Qicheng Job Search Lecture. One of the lessons I learned from it was "accumulate, accumulate, and accumulate again." I didn’t feel much about it at the time, but now after working for several years, I understand the importance of accumulation.

It can be said that all abilities come from accumulation.

A very simple truth is that our present is the accumulation of the past. No one is born knowing everything. We all learn from scratch. What we have done in the past determines what we are now. The books we have read and done in the past The projects or even the issues you have thought about may be useful in your current work. Likewise, what our future becomes will be determined by what we do now.

In fact, the difference in work ability in the workplace is essentially reflected in who has accumulated more and who has accumulated it for a long time. Why are older employees more capable than new employees? Mainly because of the long working hours and accumulated experience. Why do master's students earn higher wages than undergraduates? It is also because they have received three more years of professional training than undergraduates. Also, why do colleagues who join the company at the same time have gaps in their work abilities after a few years? Again, the reason is accumulation.

Iron Man "Elon Musk" once introduced a methodology for his work called "first principles". I believe many people have heard of it. In his words, first principles are relative to comparative thinking. Comparative thinking means that we should also do what others have done or are doing. Such results can only produce small iterations, while first principles The principle is to directly get rid of the appearance of things, see the essence inside, and then go up from the essence layer by layer.

Using this methodology, in my opinion, the first principle of growth is "accumulation." If we want to pursue growth, then we must always choose our actions based on the first principle of "accumulation" and "whether it can bring about effective accumulation" and "whether it can increase the speed of accumulation".

For example, reading, if we leave nothing behind after reading a book, then it violates this principle. Therefore, for reading, the first thing is not to consider what book to read, nor to read it immediately, but to have a methodology that allows us to accumulate something after reading the book. For example, Li Ao's reading method of breaking it into eight pieces, and Mr. Qian Zhongshu's similar method. For another example, when we choose a job, there is a principle called "change careers without changing jobs, change jobs without changing careers." This is also to maintain the continuity of accumulation.

The second is "review".

If accumulation is the most important thing for growth; then review is the most important thing for accumulation. The so-called review is to sum up the experience and gains in a timely manner after completing a piece of work. But everyone will always have the instinct to be lazy and lazy to do this, because for us, the work must be completed, but review is not necessary. When we finally finish a task, everyone's instinct should be to relax, and no one would think about adding more work to themselves.

But in fact, when we are doing a job, we are only creating value for the company. In this process, apart from salary, other gains we can get will be very limited; and review In the process, we are completely creating value for ourselves and accumulating experience for ourselves. All accumulated experience will be reflected in the improvement of our abilities and ultimately our own value growth.

Review does not actually take much time, especially compared to completing the work itself, the time spent on review is very small. But the value created by review is huge. It can be said that of the value that a job brings to ourselves, a small part is created when doing the job, and a larger part is created during review and summary. Therefore, if we do not do a review after completing a job, it is equivalent to us spending a lot of time completing a job and creating enough value for the company, but being unwilling to spend a little more time. To earn residual greater value for yourself. Such behavior is not worth the gain and is extremely stupid.

The third is "love".

When seeing this word, many people may think it is chicken soup. There are indeed a lot of articles on the Internet telling us to find a job we like and to love our work, but after reading it, We still don’t know what to do or what to do. The more we see it, the more we gradually become indifferent.

But as far as my personal knowledge is concerned, love is indeed very important for work. Here are some reasons. Only with love can we devote ourselves fully, and only with full devotion can we be the best version of ourselves.

After working for several years, I have seen the impact of love on a person's work initiative, whether it is from myself or from my colleagues and leaders. For work that they like, everyone will show initiative independently, and in addition to completing the work itself, they will also have many new ideas; for work that they don't like, even if initiative is repeatedly emphasized, the final work will still be completed passively. Under these two different working conditions, we can imagine that the work results are very different.

From another perspective, if we cannot fully devote ourselves to anything, it is a waste of time to a certain extent. The reason is simply because we could have done better.

For example, in the same day, if we work in two states of full concentration and almost enough, the results will be completely different. In the former state, we will be very proactive, and the time utilization rate may reach 90%. In the latter state, we will work more passively, and the time utilization rate may be only 60%. Different time utilization rates will cause huge gaps if it does not take too long to accumulate.

I think when we choose a job, we can have a criterion, that is, whether we can devote ourselves to the job. If not, it may not be the most suitable job because there will be other Things we can do better await us. After all, nothing is more important than being fully committed to a job.

The above three things are what I think are the most important things for personal growth. They are not only important after work, but important from any time. In fact, the core of these three things is accumulation. The earlier we start, the longer the accumulation can last. Once accumulation begins, under the action of time, the gap between us and others will quickly widen and a threshold will be formed. , and this threshold cannot be crossed through some quick learning methods. It can only be reached by spending the same amount of time.

Let’s talk about some specific experiences that may be helpful to newcomers in the workplace.

First, attitude is more important than ability.

Taking this example, what I want to say is that for newcomers, it doesn’t matter if they don’t have enough ability at the beginning, and it doesn’t matter if they make mistakes. The newcomer in our department is actually very good, but in the beginning Maybe it was because I didn’t match the aura of our leadership that I was very passive at the beginning, but in the end I was recognized for my serious and diligent attitude.

In fact, as long as the company recruits you, it will usually give the newcomer a certain amount of time to grow, but your attitude must be seen to make everyone believe that you have the possibility of growth. However, this time will not be very long, so we ourselves must take a proactive attitude. On the other hand, the company will actually take the initiative to help newcomers grow, because they need to take on part of the work as soon as possible. After all, there is a human cost.

The second is to change the way of thinking.

I believe that the biggest difference between students and working people is their way of thinking, and the difference between employees at all levels in the workplace also lies in their way of thinking.

Therefore, the same is true for newcomers to the workplace. If they want to adapt to the workplace as soon as possible, they must first change from the student's way of thinking to the workplace's way of thinking as soon as possible.

This is when we have certain ways of thinking, we will look at problems from a different perspective than others, and it may be easier to find solutions to problems.

The third is to improve writing skills.

Writing skills are needed all the time at work. I think it is the same in all units, not just state-owned enterprises.

In state-owned enterprises, some common scenarios include writing notices, systems, summary reports, etc. in daily work, reporting work with people, speech PPT, etc., and some outside work, such as participating in various internal and external essay solicitation activities. , speech contest, debate contest, etc.

Although writing ability is not as necessary as professional ability, if the article is well written, it will have many additional benefits for our career development.

The fourth is to be proficient in office software.

At work, the three-piece OFFICE suite of WORD\EXCEL\PPT may be the most commonly used software by everyone. Being proficient in these three software will greatly improve our work efficiency. This is my personal truth. experience.

This is a simple example of using Excel tables for work management. If we are proficient in using Excel, many tasks can actually be managed using Excel, which can greatly improve organization and efficiency.

The three Office software may be the easiest to learn among all software, the lowest learning cost, and one of the few that can be quickly learned. Therefore, it is recommended that everyone take some time to learn these three software before entering the workplace. The future benefits will definitely exceed the effort.

The above four points are mainly for newcomers to the workplace. I personally think they will be more useful suggestions. They should be able to help newcomers get through the workplace adaptation period relatively easily and complete the transition from student identity to workplace identity.

Having said so much, the most important point is to "practice". For example, writing skills will not improve without deliberate practice, and it is impossible to master office software without active learning. And if you are still in school, while you have a lot of free time, now is the best time to prepare accurately for entering the workplace. Do what you can do in advance and learn in advance. As I said before, The earlier the accumulation begins, the better.

Finally, I will not talk about state-owned enterprises anymore, because I have worked in this company so far, and although our company is a state-owned enterprise, it is simpler than other state-owned enterprises. I won’t go into this part without giving a complete overview. If you want to know more about state-owned enterprises, you can find many related articles on the Internet.

The above is a partial summary of my work experience in the past six years. In fact, there are many more. Every time we complete a job and conduct a review, we can gain a little experience. It is impossible to list them all here. I won't go into details, so it is important for us to develop the habit of reviewing and accumulating. Finally, if you have read this, thank you and I hope you can learn something.
