Cheng Mo’s character evaluation

In 1989, Cheng Mo went to the Henan Calligraphy Correspondence School for further study and received personal instruction and guidance from famous calligraphers such as Zhang Hai, Chen Tianran, and Li Gangtian. The mentor's words and deeds and his years of dedicated study allowed him to embrace the past and the present, learn from others' strengths, and gradually improve his calligraphy art. His regular script absorbs the simplicity of Zhong Yao, the agility of Er Wang, the richness of face and body, and the elegance of European style, and combines it with modern creative consciousness to form a high-flying, smart, handsome and upright artistic style. The cursive script starts from Er Wang, and then follows Xi Huaisu's " "Thousand-Character Essay on Xiaocao", "Four Notes on Ancient Poems" by Zhang Xu, "Book Book" by Sun Guoting, "Scroll of Cursive Script Poems" by Wang Duo, etc. Cheng Mo integrated the essence of many ancient and modern calligraphy systems with his own subjective emotions. Through the collision of inheritance and innovation, he gradually formed his own unique artistic style. Looking at his cursive writing, he is magnificent, free and smooth, with a smooth and square stroke, delicate and clear bones, simple and mature, imitating the ancient but not rigid, innovative but not losing the law, giving people a comfortable and bold artistic feeling.
