The Historical Evolution of Anshan City

According to documents, Anshan Post Castle was built in Hongwu period of Ming Dynasty and rebuilt in Wanli period of Ming Dynasty as a delivery place. There are many chariots and horses in the post station, and merchants are extremely prosperous. According to "Liaoyang County Records", "Anshan Post Castle, 60 miles southwest of the city, has two gates in the southwest and northeast. There was a post station here in the Ming Dynasty, which was said to have been built in the early Ming Dynasty. Outside the southwest station, the old word' Anshan Post Castle' has been destroyed today, and the handwriting is gone. " Liaodong Chronicle also said: "Anshan Post, 60 miles south of Liaoyang, was established in the 20th year of Hongwu (1387) and rebuilt in the 6th year of Wanli (1578). Set up one hundred households (six military attache), in charge of Liao Zhongwei, delivering at Anshan Station, in charge of Liao Qianwei, with twenty horses and ten donkeys, specializing in newspapers and periodicals. "During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was once a battleground for military strategists and a transportation hub. Business travel in the city is prosperous, very prosperous. After the railway was opened to traffic, it gradually lost its important position.

There are two gates in this city, the northeast gate and the southwest gate. The northeast gate has been destroyed and the southwest gate is well preserved. The gatehouse is 13m high and the doorway is 3.9m wide. There is a brick carving pattern embedded with the plaque of "Anshan Post Castle" above the original doorway, and there is an inscription of "Renovation in Six Years of Wanli" under the forehead, which no longer exists. 1986, when the Anshan Municipal People's Government rebuilt it, the plaque "Anshan Post Castle" was carved by Mo Yu, and as a supplement, its four big characters were inscribed by Wen Tongchun, a famous calligrapher in Liaoning.

Anshan Daobao is an isosceles trapezoid castle. The length of the four walls is: east-west wall 276m, south wall 290m and north wall 283m. Total length 1 125m, wall height 10m, foundation width 8m, stone foundation 2m, brick building height 7.5m, wall thickness 7.5m, rammed with urban soil. The original Guandi Temple and Longwang Temple in the city were built in the Qing Dynasty. There is a stone well outside the southwest gate, with a small mouth and a large bottom, which is suspected to be a relic of the ancient city of Liao Dynasty. This well was crushed to the ground when paving asphalt roads in the village during the Cultural Revolution, and now it can't be found!
