The history of lotus cultivation in China can be traced back at least to the late Western Zhou Dynasty (about 2700 years ago). According to statistics, there are more than 80 aliases, proper names and elegant names of lotus, which are really rare among flowers. "Lotus" is the earliest name, which was first recorded in the poetry collections in the mid-Spring and Autumn Period in China. The Book of Songs Zheng Feng records: "Ji has lotus flowers". In 473 BC, Fu Cha, the king of Wu, built a "flower pond" in his palace near Taihu Lake, so that his favorite concubines could enjoy the beautiful scenery of Taihu Lake. Erya is China's first dictionary of the Han Dynasty, which explains lotus, also known as Fu Style Fu (also written as Fu Qu and Fu Qu in past dynasties). Every organ has its own proper name. After the Han Dynasty, the meaning of lotus expanded, not only referring to fruit, but also referring to "lotus". Both are considered as the floorboard of lotus. As for the nickname "Lotus", in different historical periods, after being rendered by poets and scholars, it emerged one after another. For example, in Li Sao, written by Qu Yuan, a doctor of Chu, "the clothes of those who make lotus flowers are the clothes of those who gather hibiscus", and lotus has the name of "hibiscus". In the Tang Dynasty, Du Fu's poem "A Summer Tour to Gong Li" said: "The spray is quiet enough to make up for a long stay." The splash is a lotus flower. In Song Dynasty Fan Chengda's "Singing Lotus", "Ling Boxian is quiet and fragrant, and there are many red studies and drunken makeup", and the lotus flower adds the reputation of Ling Boxian. In the Song Dynasty, Zhou Dunyi said in Love Lotus: "Lotus is a gentleman of flowers." This is the source of lotus called "gentleman flower". It can be seen that throughout the ages, lotus is one of the most favorite traditional famous flowers of our people.
