Peng Xueqin is Peng Yulin
Peng Yulin (1816--1890), courtesy name Xuecen, nickname Xueqin, self-titled master of Tui Province Nunnery, a native of Hengyang, Hunan, everyone. From an official to the Ministry of War, he has a posthumous title of uprightness. He is good at poetry and his calligraphy is very sharp. He can write immediately when he writes, and he does not take it lightly to write to others. He is good at painting plum blossoms, with old stems and numerous branches, scales and scales of jade, and they are as strong as a child's feather.
In his early years, he participated in suppressing the uprising initiated by Li Yuan of Xinning. In 1853 (the third year of Xianfeng), the Hunan Navy was established from Zeng Guofan and acquired foreign artillery. The following year, he defeated the Taiping Army in the Battle of Xiangtan and was appointed magistrate. Later, the army captured Yuezhou and defeated the Taiping Navy in Wuhan and Tianjia Town. In February 1855, he was defeated by Shi Dakai in Hukou, Jiangxi. So he reorganized the navy and cooperated with the army to defeat the Taiping Army in Zhangshu Town, Linjiang and other places in 1856, and was promoted to Huichao Jiadao in Guangdong. In 1857, he attacked Hukou with Yang Zaifu and others, and subsequently captured Jiujiang and Anqing. He was promoted to governor of Anhui and resigned. In 1861, he was promoted to admiral of the navy and was awarded the title of right minister of the Ministry of War. In 1862 (the first year of Tongzhi), he led the navy to respond to Zeng Guo's Quanlu Division and went east along the river to block the mouth of the Tianjing moat. The following year, he and Yang Zaifu and others broke through Jiangpu, Jiusuzhou, and Pukou, cutting off the Tianjing grain road. Tianjing was captured and Prince Shaobao was appointed. In 1868, together with Zeng Guofan, he decided on the structure of the Yangtze River Navy. He returned home in the spring of the following year.
In 1872, he was ordered to inspect the navy along the Yangtze River, sort out matters, and recommend Li Chengmou as the admiral of the Yangtze River Navy. He was also ordered to inspect the navy once a year thereafter. In 1881 (the seventh year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu), he was appointed governor-general of Liangjiang. However, he resigned and remained in charge of Jiangfang and Haiphong. In 1883, Shangshu of the Ministry of War of the Jin Dynasty was ordered to go to Guangdong to handle defense, renovate Humen Fortress, strengthen coastal security, and send troops to defend Qinzhou and Lingshan. He went to Shu to lead the battle many times. After the war, Shu asked for strict preparations to prevent future troubles. In 1888, the navy inspected the Yangtze River and arrived in Anqing.
Later he returned home due to illness. He died as a commoner in his residence on the east bank of Hengyang River. As a gift to the crown prince, he is given the posthumous title of upright and upright. And a special shrine was built for him.
