Selection of materials
1. Place the bamboo in the steam chamber (or heat it for half an hour), then take it out and place it in a cool place to dry, but it should not be overly dried or placed in strong light. Exposed to the sun.
2. Planing and cutting: Plane off the rough skin and cut the bamboo strips to the required length, which depends on the size of the lantern.
Tie the skeleton. Weave the lamp stand in a cross pattern. In the middle of the lamp stand, tie several circles of bamboo circles on the lamp wall.
To make the lamp body, buy some sheets of white or red ordinary rice paper or gold-sprinkled rice paper at the Wenfangsibao store, cut them into lengths and widths that fit the lantern frame, and then you can design your own pattern. Calligraphy, painting, and paper-cutting can all be displayed on small lanterns. After pasting, you can also use narrow strips of imitation silk paper to border the upper and lower sides to make it look more elegant, much like an ancient palace lantern. If you are not very good at calligraphy and painting, there is a simple method for your reference. Use a piece of tissue paper to trace the desired words on the copybook, then overlap the tissue paper with the dark red rice paper, and dig out the writing with a single-edged blade. After removing the tissue paper, hollow writing appeared on the red rice paper. Use white rice paper to make the lamp body, and paste red rice paper inside. The candlelight or light is reflected from the hollow part, and the effect is quite beautiful.
To make a light source, if you place it indoors, you only need to light an ordinary candle in the lantern; if you want to carry it out, it is best to use a light bulb and a battery to make a simple circuit. It may look a little rough, but during the Lantern Festival, light a self-mounted lamp. First, brush the diluted paste evenly on the surface of the frame, then paste it with cotton gauze, and lightly attach the cut gauze to the lamp stand. Then use a brush dipped in paste to smooth it, and finally paste the second layer of single-gloss paper for lanterns (if there is no single-gloss paper, fine tissue paper can also be used.) Note that the brush for smoothing the paste must be clean, and the paper for mounting must also be paste There must be no seams before the paper is truly finished. Dry Place the lantern in a cool and ventilated place to dry.
Painting
1. Painting or cut-and-paste: Paint or cut-and-paste with personally desired patterns, such as characters, Eight Immortals, flowers and birds, ladies, etc.
2. Write text: After painting, decide whether to write text according to the situation. After the text and patterns are completely dry, the lantern is finished.
