China Academy of Fine Arts' hard-pen calligraphy exam is divided into 10 grades, from elementary to advanced, from grade 1 to grade 10. So level 4 is intermediate, not the lowest.
With the increase of grade, the level of calligraphy will be improved, the key parts of evaluation will be increased, and the evaluation reference will be more detailed, but the examination time and the number of words will not increase, which are all 90 minutes, not less than 100 words.
