A famous calligrapher, painter and book collector in the Qing Dynasty. The courtesy name is Xihan, and the other is Wu Geng. His nickname is Nanya and Xilu. A native of Changzhou (now Suzhou). Gu Jie was promoted to grandson and became a Jinshi in the seventh year of Jiaqing (1802). He selected common people and was awarded the title of editor. He went to Yunnan to study politics. In the 11th year of Daoguang's reign, he was moved to the Department of General Affairs as deputy envoy. After retiring from officialdom, he lived in the Ci Institute for more than 30 years. Together with Tao Shu, Zhuo Bingtian, Zhu Shiyan, Liang Zhangju, Wu Tingchen, Zhu Jue and others, he became the "Seven Friends of Wuzhong" and was known as the elder in the literary world. He was a member of Wenhan's family and had a library called "Si Wuxie Hall". He has a close relationship with the famous bibliophile Huang Pilie. Huang Pilie recorded in "Inscriptions on Engraved Books in Xipu" that "the number of books he collected at that time was almost the same as that of Jiangyun and Chuan." Nanya also had a good relationship with Yu, and every time he visited, he would always ask for this letter, so he used the "Continuation of Bo Sheng's Poems" engraved in the Yuan Dynasty to get it easily for twenty taels of platinum." There are 2 volumes of "Yun Yan Guo Yan Lu" engraved in Song Dynasty, and the book seal is "Gu Chun Seal". Huang Pilie was fond of Song engravings and had as many as a hundred Song editions in his collection. He wrote inscriptions for them, and his family members called them "One hundred Song engravings." The calligrapher Ouyang Xun's writing, cursive writing, Fenming writing and Li writing have also been melancholy since ancient times. The late painter Yang Buzhi's narcissus resembles that of Zhao Mengjian. The plum blossoms are full of ancient charm, the orchid flowers are elegant and moist, innocent and natural. There are records in "Mo Lin Jin Hua" and "Tong Yin On Painting". He is the author of "Copy of Nanya Poetry and Prose" and "Record of Yunnan Style Collection". His father, Gu Yingchang (1735-1796), had a rich collection of books and had a library called "Le Shu Zhai".
