Why did such an arrogant person as Du Fu's grandfather Du Shenyan become the brothers of Zhang Changzong and Zhang Yi?

Du Fu’s grandfather was very arrogant, and his uncle was even more arrogant. As a result, he was demoted and died, and even alarmed the empress Wu Zetian. Why did an arrogant person like Du Fu's grandfather Du Shenyan become the brother of Zhang Changzong and Zhang Yi? Du Fu's second uncle was very willful. He killed a court official at the age of 13. His enemy was full of praise for him before he died.

This poem was written by Du Fu and presented to his friend Luqiu Monk. Among them, there are two lines: "My ancestors' poems are among the most ancient, and they were favored by the Lord in the same year." It means that their ancestors are Good friends who were officials in the same dynasty.

And, why not launch your grandfather in a grand way? The meaning of these two lines of poems is that his grandfather's ancient poems are the best poems of all time, and they were reused by the court in the same year as your ancestors. In this way, the two families can be regarded as family friends.

Du Fu’s grandfather was Du Shenyan, a famous poet in the early Tang Dynasty. His ancestral home was Xiangyang, Xiangzhou (now Xiangyang, Hubei). Du Shenyan’s father, Du Yiyi, was the county magistrate of Gong County (now Gongyi, Henan), and his family followed him. He settled in Gong County. Du Shenyan was a Jinshi during the Xianheng period of Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty. He served as a minor official such as Xi Chengwei and Luoyang Cheng, and was a direct bachelor of the Leiguan Xiu Wen Guan. He, Li Qiao, Cui Rong, and Su Wenwei were known as the "Four Friends of Articles".

Du Shenyan was one of the founders of "modern poetry" in the Tang Dynasty, and he made great contributions to the final formation of rhythmic poetry. Hu Yinglin, a famous scholar in the Ming Dynasty, once commented on Du Shenyan: "In the early Tang Dynasty, there was no seven-character formula, and the five-character formula was not transcendent. The beauty of the two characters was actually pioneered by Du Shenyan."

Du Shenyan Especially in the five-character verse, he made great contributions to the formation and development of modern poetry. He was commented by later generations as the founder of Chinese five-character verse poetry. His five-character rhymed poem "He Dong with Dr. Li Si Zhen was envoyed to Fu Hedong" is as long as forty rhymes and is the longest modern poem in the early Tang Dynasty. His five-rhythm "An Early Spring Tour with Lu Cheng in the Jinling Mausoleum".

It was praised by Hu Yinglin of the Ming Dynasty as the first among the Five Rules of the Early Tang Dynasty. From this point of view, Du Fu's evaluation of his grandfather as "my ancestor's poetry ranks among the most ancient" is also emotionally related.
