Deyang County was founded in the Eastern Han Dynasty, and has been evolving since then. In the early Sui Dynasty, Deyang County was divided into two counties: Yinping County and Changlong County. After several evolutions, Jiangyou County was divided into Jiangyou County and Zhangming County in the Southern Song Dynasty.
1935, when the Red Fourth Front Army entered the county seat, it was divided into Jishi, Zhonghua, Zhangming and Zhongba towns.
1August, 940, in order to meet the needs of the Anti-Japanese War, the administrative divisions were unified, and the joint insurance was cancelled and changed to towns and villages, and some Bao and A were merged. The county is still divided into three districts. The original 24 joint insurance companies were changed into four towns 17 townships, the original 492 joint insurance companies were merged into 295 joint insurance companies, and the original 4,920 joint insurance companies were merged into 3 156 joint insurance companies. It is a four-level system of district, township (town), insurance and A. Zhang Ming County, which is adjacent to Jiangyou, also cancelled the district setting in the process of adjusting the zoning below the county level according to the instructions of the provincial government, and the county government was directly responsible for the joint guarantee (at that time, Zhang Ming was the smallest county in the province with an area of only over 600 square kilometers).
1950- 1955, administrative divisions were adjusted seven times. By 1955, there were 5 districts (county agencies), 2 towns, 32 townships, 284 villages, 10 neighborhood committees and about 3,000 village (neighborhood) groups in the county.
Jiangyou and Zhangming counties merged into Zhangjiang county in 1958.
1In the autumn of 958, Zhangming County was merged into Jiangyou County, and the county was divided into 9 districts, 40 people's communes, 36 1 administrative districts and 1588 production teams. Jiangyou County was rebuilt on 1959.
After 1984, Jiangyou county (city) carried out the work of withdrawing districts and building towns in townships many times. 1997, with a city area of 27 19.3 square kilometers and a population of 850,000. It has jurisdiction over 4 streets, 20 towns and 2/kloc-0 townships, and the municipal government is located in Zhongba Town.

In 2000, jiangyou city administered 4 streets, 20 towns and 2/kloc-0 townships: Changgang Street, Wudu Changgang Street, Hanzenggang Street, Huaping Street, Zhongba Town, sanhe town, Taiping Town, Hanzeng Town, qinglian town, Zhangming Town, Longfeng Town, Wudu Town, Dakang Town, Xin 'an Town, Zhanqi Town, etc. Xiangshui Township, Dayan Township, Dongxing Township, Beicheng Township, Yixin Township, Guanshan Township, Xinchun Township, Xinxing Township, Dongan Township, Wen Sheng Township, Tongxing Township, Zhongxing Township, Ji Yun Township, Shiyuan Township, Jingyuan Township, Liuhe Township and Fengshun Township. There are Yi, Tibetan, Miao, Hui, Dong, Yao, Mongolian, Tujia, Wa, Manchu, Naxi, Buyi, Bai, Zhuang and Dai.
On February 8, 2003, 65438, the resident of jiangyou city Beicheng Township Government was moved from Baishi Village 1 Group to Tianzhu Mountain, Group 9 of Baiyi Village.
In 2004, jiangyou city administered 4 streets, 2 1 town and 19 township.
