Zhang Zhongmei (1927. 10—2007.3), alias Zhang Chongmei, was born in Neihuang, Henan. Good at Chinese painting. 1949 graduated from normal university. He used to be the law and discipline propaganda officer of the former Pingyuan Provincial People's Court, the cultural and educational officer of the trade union of the Fourth Bureau of the Second Machinery Department of the Central Committee, and the head of the art editing room of the Culture and Art Publishing House of China Academy of Fine Arts. He was obsessed with calligraphy and painting all his life. He studied poetry, calligraphy and seal cutting with masters such as Xu Beihong, Chen Banding, Wang Xuetao and Xiao Lao, and achieved a lot. He has worked tirelessly for decades, and his character and artistic attainments are often praised by his fellow artists. This scholar painter has been fighting for China's painting and calligraphy all his life. Mr. Zhang Zhongmei, a famous painter in China and Art editor of China Academy of Fine Arts, died in Beijing on March 7, 2007 at the age of 80. He is the author of Flower and Bird Painting Techniques, Figure Painting Techniques and Landscape Painting Techniques.
