(a) do not stick to their posts, go their own way. Beginners of calligraphy, especially self-learners, don't want to stick to their posts or feel too hard. They are eager for success, so they scribble at will with their own personality. As everyone knows, this is a big taboo.
(2) Random selection of copybooks, ranking in no particular order. Learning calligraphy is a gradual process. Easy first, then difficult. First, choose some copybooks with rich techniques. The technical performance of some copybooks is not obvious enough, which is not easy for beginners to see, so it is natural to get twice the result with half the effort. For example, beginners learn cursive script, between Zhang Xu and Huai Su, learn from Zhang Xu first, because Huai Su's brushwork such as lifting pressure is not easy to detect, but Zhang Xu's is more obvious. Therefore, Zhang should be placed before Su.
(3) Look at the posts regardless of priority. Many beginners of calligraphy can't wait to master more techniques at once, so they will read posts indiscriminately. So regardless of priority, although I read a lot of copybooks in the past, I didn't grasp the main points. I only learned superficial kung fu and wasted my energy.
(4) eager to seek "God", not working hard on "shape". What can stand out from the vast amount of ancient calligraphy works and stay, whether in block letters, lines or cursive scripts, is both physical and mental. Therefore, when learning calligraphy, we often describe good works as "both form and spirit". I don't know that the "spirit" of calligraphy must be based on its "shape". If you are not sure about the "shape", don't waste your effort to seek its "god"!
(5) Not serious about the post and eager to create. Creation is the ultimate goal of all learning calligraphy. Especially when creating masterpieces with both skills and personality, it is difficult to express inner satisfaction and happiness in words. If you don't have enough skills and skills to create, it must be in vain. It is better to go to the post in a down-to-earth manner.
(6) The method is wrong, and vice versa. There are specialties in the industry, and the interlacing is like a mountain. Calligraphy naturally has the doorway of calligraphy. If the method is wrong, you will scribble all day, and it will be difficult to change if you get used to it. Repeat a mistake 10,000 times, and eventually you will make a mistake. Mistakes cannot be repeated for a long time and become correct experiences. Some mistakes will be repeated for a long time and become a habit. That's terrible.
