At the age of 27, Yong Xun was named Prince Heshuo by Emperor Qianlong. The word "Cheng" in the title means capable and talented in Manchu. Since Emperor Qianlong attached so much importance to and loved Yong Xun, why didn't he make Yong Xun his successor?
The main reason is that the sour taste of Jin Yong's literati is too serious. Although Emperor Qianlong was a man with high cultural accomplishment, he did not completely indulge in literature, nor did he develop a deep interest in sour literati. This sour taste of literati is not too bad in daily life, but it is unacceptable to be an emperor because this sour taste of literati is harmful to governing the country. Emperor Qianlong has repeatedly advised Jin Yong to correct the sour taste of literati, but he has not changed after many times. Emperor Qianlong was naturally angry when he saw that Jin Yong refused to change his teachings. He did not make Jin Yong a prince, let alone pass it on to Jin Yong.
In fact, there is another reason why Emperor Qianlong did not make Jin Yong a prince. This reason is Jin Yong's mother Jin Jiashi. Although Jin Jiashi had three sons, Jin Yong, Yong Xuan and Jin Yong, Jin Jiashi was very popular with Emperor Qianlong. Emperor Qianlong loved his first queen and his second queen, Fu Cha.
