The author of the Five Cows Picture is Han Huang.
Han Huang (723-March 19, 787), courtesy name Taichong, was born in Chang'an, Jingzhao (now Xi'an, Shaanxi). A painter and prime minister of the Tang Dynasty, he was the son of Han Xiu, the prince's junior master. Han Huanggong's calligraphy and Zhang Xu's cursive calligraphy. Hua Yuan studied under the Southern Song Dynasty and Lu Tanwei. He was good at painting characters and rural customs and scenery, especially cattle, sheep, donkeys and other animals.
The "Five Cows Picture" was praised by Zhao Mengfu of the Yuan Dynasty as "an upright and upright, rare and famous pen in the world". He was good at "Yi" and "Spring and Autumn", and wrote "Spring and Autumn General Regulations", "Preface to Astronomical Affairs", etc., all of which are lost today. There are two poems in "Complete Poems of the Tang Dynasty".
When he was young, Han Huang was maverick, unattached to power and fond of learning. Because of his father Han Xiu's official honor, he served as the Zuowei Guard Cavalry Cao to join the army during the Kaiyuan period of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty (713-741). In the twenty-seventh year of Kaiyuan (739), Han Xiu passed away. Han Huang left his post to mourn his father. After his term of office expired, he was appointed as the chief registrar of Tongguan County in Jingzhao Prefecture. Later, he stayed in mourning for his mother, the Liu family. After the expiration of his term of service, he was appointed as the prince's general secretary.

In the Deyuanzai year (756), Han Huang was summoned as a judge by Deng Jingshan, the governor of the Qing Qi Dynasty. At that time, Suzong of the Tang Dynasty came to the throne in Lingwu, and Han Huang was appointed as the supervisory censor and Sima of Beihai County. However, he was unable to take office due to road obstruction, so he moved to Shannan Road to avoid the war. He was recommended by Li Chengzhao to be the governor of Tongchuan County because his brother Han Tun had previously offended him. Prime Minister Wang Yu, Han Huang was reassigned to Prince Peng's Mansion to consult and join the army.
When Deng Jingshan moved to Huainan, he also asked Han Huang to serve as his staff officer, but Han Huang did not take up the post. Later, he was appointed by the imperial court as the imperial censor, and successively served as the ancestral department, kaogong department, and official department. Yuanwailang, who has a strong and upright character and is well versed in government affairs, was sentenced to five years in Nancao affairs. He carefully studied the documents and books in the government office, and even the smallest things were not missed.
During the Dali reign of Emperor Daizong of the Tang Dynasty (766-779), Han Huang was appointed as a doctor in the Ministry of official affairs and a minister in charge of affairs, and was informed of the selection of affairs in the Ministry of war. Later, he moved to the position of Minister Youcheng (first Zuocheng) and was informed of the selection of officials.
