Why do I write calligraphy well in class and not so well at home?

A friend asked me before: Why is it not so good to write well in class every time, but not so good when I go home? Actually, there are many reasons for this.

First, it may be that your writing ability is not solid enough to establish new writing habits. This ability and habit will firmly grow on you and become a part of you, so when you get home, you will feel worse than writing in class.

So you need to continue to improve your ability, such as observing copybooks more, practicing more, being more solid and patient in strokes, lines, structure and overall layout of words, and giving yourself enough time to do this.

Second, in the collective or classroom, we should be more energetic. Under the timely guidance of teachers, students can communicate and inspire each other. It is normal for everyone to write together, which is better than at home.

Therefore, when you are not stable enough, the best way is to find a favorite teacher to accompany you. A person will inadvertently return to the original consciousness and habits when writing. You should try to create a good growth environment for yourself and have a solid foundation!

It is very important to remember that you must choose a teacher or companion that you trust and admire. Not every teacher is suitable for you. Before looking for a teacher or joining a group, you should first know what you need, and then find a suitable teacher according to your needs.

Don't look at other people's criteria for finding a teacher, look at your own, because other people's problems are not necessarily your problems, and what suits others may not be suitable for you!

Generally, you write well in class, but you can't write well when you get home. There are several reasons, such as:

- 1-

Are writing tools suitable?

Have you checked your writing tools? Do you use wolf hair, wool or both? If you are a beginner, it is strongly recommended that you use double brush. Because pure wool is too soft and pure wool is too hard, brushing both is the most suitable hardness. Personally, I like the double brush very much because it is very comfortable and natural to write. It is best to choose semi-cooked rice paper for paper practice.

Mood and weather when writing

When writing at home, did you look at your writing mood and environment at that time? This is also very important. When your heart is quiet and at ease, the words you write must be a true portrayal of your heart, and you will feel at ease when you look at them. When you are upset, confused or the weather is gloomy, your handwriting will also be affected.

Of course, it doesn't mean that you can only write when you are in a good mood and the weather is good. That was not the case. It doesn't matter when and under what conditions. When you are bored or the weather is bad, you can use writing to release and relieve yourself. At this time, it is very important to release and circulate your emotions through calligraphy.

Is writing relaxing?

Writing is a relaxing thing both physically and mentally. Do you write in a very comfortable and natural posture? If the posture is wrong, you will be very tired after writing for a while. Maybe you're nervous and won't let go. Generally speaking, beginners are advised to write standing up and in big letters, almost as big as the palm of your hand.

Standing to write is indeed harder than sitting to write, which consumes more physical strength, but naturally there are many benefits. For example, writing standing can hang your wrist, and writing standing often can exercise your arm strength, so that the quality of strokes written is higher, and standing can pay more attention to the overall situation and broaden your horizons than sitting.

Ask too much of yourself.

Have you ever checked whether you are too demanding or too strict with yourself? It is very important to give yourself enough time and patience to accompany yourself when the new writing habit has not been fully established. Growth needs a process, not a day's work.

Just this morning, I saw a conversation between Mr. Micha and his students. I modified it a little and share it with you here: Did you raise silkworms when you were a child? It takes a long time for silkworm babies to eat mulberry leaves, spin silk, form cocoons and finally break cocoons, so they need to go through such a long process and give themselves some time to write.

Writing at home and accepting yourself is not good enough. Accept yourself first, and with acceptance, progress will bark in front of you.

Summary:

When you find yourself writing well in class, but you can't write well when you get home, you can make a breakthrough from the following points:

1 first know what problems you need to solve, such as: wrong pen method, wrong structure, low line quality and so on;

If possible, find a teacher or a group to participate in collective study, which will help you invisibly this time;

Improve your observation ability, see more and think more, and don't set limits for yourself. For different words or books, it is very important to observe the direction, structure and composition of their strokes and how to lay out and arrange them. Observation is equivalent to writing half;

Finally, do more work and write more.

I hope these can help you!
