Writing skills beside words

Lateral point: In the eight-character method, it is said that "the point is on the side, like the side of a bird", which means that the writing lateral point should fly obliquely down like a bird and beast, which should be agile and smart. As the saying goes, "floating like a cloud, agile dragons are shocked", which is free and easy in elegance and imposing in agility.

Horizontal apostrophe: In the structure of Chinese characters, "horizontal apostrophe" is not an independent radical, but it is often regarded as a basic stroke in people's writing habits. It is neither round and full like "3" nor angular like "Bi". From the overall shelf structure, "horizontal folding" has stroke characteristics such as horizontal hook and horizontal folding, but it is not the same.

Ping Na: The Eight Laws of Yongzi says, "The pen is open!" It means that the pen should be written with great momentum and firmness, especially in regular script. Cohesive brushwork, vigorous appearance and smooth brushwork, combined with its own structure, undoubtedly increase the rigidity and momentum of the whole font.

China's calligraphy has its own specific aesthetic standards, and the structure and density of each character have certain rules to follow, which is particularly important for beginners of calligraphy. For example, the equidistant relationship between word base, side point, short horizontal and flat is often ignored by many beginners.

Although calligraphy pays attention to horizontal and vertical strokes, even strokes like "one or two" do not have to be written horizontally or vertically because of different writing habits and aesthetic standards. Looking through the ancient law posts, it is almost a universal law that the horizontal pen is slightly raised and the vertical pen is slightly protruding to the left. Moreover, the horizontal angle at the bottom of walking is short, and the structural deviation is more prominent. For those of us who are beginners in calligraphy, it is naturally helpful to master this "clearing angle".
