In ancient times, there was a scholar named Meng Ke. When he first went to school, he was very careful, and he wrote neatly. Soon, he felt that studying was too hard, so he might as well have fun outside. So, he played truant and often went to play in the Woods on the hillside. How happy he was!
One day, when he came home, his mother, who was weaving, asked him, "Why did school leave so early?" He had to admit playing truant. Mother said angrily, "I worked hard to weave for you to study, but you played truant. It's so hopeless!" " Xiao Mengke quickly knelt down for his mother.
Mom picked up scissors and cut the unfinished cloth at once, saying, "What's the use if you don't study hard, just like this cut cloth!"
Xiao Meng Ke cried and said, "I was wrong! I will never play again. I must study hard! " From then on, Xiao Mengke studied hard and never slacked off. Later he became a famous great thinker.
Zhang Heng
Zhang Heng (78 ~ 139), whose name was Ping Zi, was a famous scientist and writer in the Eastern Han Dynasty. His birthplace is now stonebridge, Nanyang County, Henan Province. His grandfather, Zhang Kan, was a satrap, keeping the officials clean. His father died young, so Zhang Heng's family was poor. Zhang Heng has been diligent and studious since he was a child, and he has long been famous in the village. According to historical records, when he was 1 years old, he was "able to master five classics and six arts" and read it once and for all. He has a wide range of interests, often dabbles in natural science books, and writes well in Ci. One day, Zhang Heng read four poems from a collection of poems, describing the changes of the Big Dipper in the evening of each season: "bucket handle refers to the east, and the world is spring; Bucket handle guide, the world is summer; Bucket handle refers to the west, and the world is autumn; Bucket handle refers to the north, and the world is winter. " He thinks it's so interesting. The stars in the sky twinkle, some are like a dustpan, some are like a bucket, some are like dogs, and some are like bears. What are the rules of their operation? This is simply wonderful. So according to the content of the poem, Zhang Heng drew a sky map with reference to other books. Every night, as long as there were no clouds, he silently observed the night sky in front of the sky map. How many mysteries are there in the vast starry sky? He observes, records and thinks. His head is full of all kinds of questions and colorful fantasies. Later, he finally confirmed that the descriptions in those four poems were not accurate enough. In fact, bucket handle refers to the northeast in early spring, but to the southeast in late spring.
Stabbing on a beam:
In the Eastern Han Dynasty, there was a man named Sun Jing, who was a famous politician. When he was young, he was studious, often closed the door and kept reading alone. Reading from morning till night every day is often forgetting to eat and sleep. I have been studying for a long time, I am tired, and I still don't rest. After a long time, I dozed off with fatigue. He was afraid of affecting his study, so he came up with a special way. In ancient times, men had long hair. He found a rope and tied it firmly to the beam. When he was tired of reading, he dozed off. When his head was lowered, the rope would hold his hair, which would hurt his scalp and wake up immediately. Then he continued to study and learn the story of Sun Jing's hanging beam.
during the warring States period, there was a man named Su Qin, who was also a famous politician. When I was young, I went to many places to do things because of my lack of knowledge, and I was not taken seriously. After returning home, his family was also very cold and looked down on him. This is a great stimulus to him. So, he made up his mind to study hard. He often studies late into the night, is very tired, often takes a nap and wants to sleep. He also figured out a way to prepare an awl, and once he dozed off, he stabbed himself in the thigh with the awl. In this way, I suddenly feel pain, wake myself up, and then insist on reading. This makes the story of Su Qin's "stabbing".
Kuang Heng
There is a man named Kuang Heng who likes reading very much. But the family is poor, can't afford candles, and can't light up for reading at night. Kuang Heng's neighbors have a good life, lighting candles every night, and the room is very bright. He wanted to study in his neighbor's house, but he was rejected. Later, Kuang Heng came up with a good idea. He chiseled a small hole in the wall, and the light from his neighbor's house came through. He put the book in front of the light and it was convenient to read. Kuang Heng is reading more and more books, but what if he has no money to buy books? One day, he found a talented master's house with a lot of books piled up at home. He went to help the talented master's house without money. The talented master was very surprised and asked him, "Young man, why are you working in vain!" " Kuang Heng didn't hide it, so he said, "I work for you, and I don't want to get paid. I just want to borrow your books. I wonder if you will agree?" Only the Lord was so happy that he lent him books from home. Later, Kuang Heng became a learned man. This idiom means that people should study hard.
Che Yin
"In the Jin Dynasty, Che Yin was always eager to learn, but because of his poor family, his father could not provide him with a good learning environment. In order to maintain food and clothing, there is no extra money to buy lamp oil for him to study at night. To this end, he can only use this time to recite poems. "One night in summer, he was reciting an article in the yard when he suddenly saw many fireflies flying in the low altitude. The flashing light spots are a bit dazzling in the dark. He thought, if many fireflies were gathered together, wouldn't it become a lamp? So he went to find a white silk bag, immediately caught dozens of fireflies in it, tied the mouth of the bag and hung it. It's not very bright, but it can be used for reading. From then on, as long as there are fireflies, he will catch one and use it as a lamp. Because he studied hard and practiced hard, he finally became an official with a high position. "The same is true of Sun Kang in the same dynasty. Because there is no money to buy lamp oil, I can't read at night, so I can only go to bed early. He felt it was a pity to let time run away in vain. "One night in the middle of the night, when he woke up from his sleep and turned his head to the window, he found a light in the window. It turned out that it was reflected by heavy snow, so you can use it to read books. So he was so tired that he immediately got dressed, took out his books and went outside. The snow light reflected on the wide earth is much brighter than that in the room. Regardless of the cold, Sun Kang immediately read a book, his hands and feet were frozen, so he got up and ran, rubbing his fingers at the same time. Since then, every snowy night, he never misses this good opportunity and studies tirelessly. This spirit of studying hard has promoted his knowledge to advance by leaps and bounds and become a knowledgeable person. Later, he also became a senior official.
