Its main meaning is to go up the mountain even if you know there are tigers on it. Describe knowing the danger or making a wrong decision or continuing to do it.
This proverb comes from the 23rd chapter of Shi Naian's Water Margin, where Chai Jin, Liu Bin, Henghai County, Jingyanggang and Wusong killed tigers.
On the way home to see his brother, Song Wu went to a small shop and drank some wine, but he was drunk. Song Wu was just about to leave for Jingyanggang. The clerk quickly caught up with him and told him that there was a tiger on the mountain. Why don't you go with your companions? Song Wu didn't listen and said, "Even if there is a tiger, I'm not afraid!" Say that finish and left.
Extended data:
Song Wu killed a tiger, which is a story in Water Margin written by Shi Naian. It mainly tells that Song Wu, a Liangshan hero, went home to visit his brother, passed by Jingyanggang, went to a restaurant to buy 18 bowls of wine, and got drunk and wanted to hit the road. The restaurant told him that there was a tiger hurting people on the mountain and advised him not to do it. Song Wu didn't believe it, but he saw a big white frontworm hanging on his eyes on the mountain. Song Wu rose up all his life and killed the tiger with his fist, which eliminated a great disaster for the local people. This incident soon spread to Jingyanggang, and people called Song Wu a "tiger hero".
This is the origin of the proverb "knowing that there are tigers in the mountains, we tend to walk in the mountains".
