Fish swimming in the water
Day by day, just like fish in water, the water is getting less and less every day, and it is getting closer and closer to death. What is there to be happy about?
When I was young, I was also afraid of death. Sometimes I can't sleep when I suddenly think of it. But doesn't the meaning of life lie in every day's life, every day's trivial things, every day's food, clothing, housing and transportation, and every day's joys and sorrows? Everyone's life end point is the same. The difference is how we spend our lives.
Huang Tingjian expressed his views on life in a few lines in his Seven Miscellaneous Poems No.1. Let's look at these poems.
Seven miscellaneous poems, the first part
Song Dynasty: Huang Tingjian
The world is a lonely place, and the world killed the green temple.
After all, a few people really got deer, but they didn't know that they dreamed of fish all day.
Let's look at the theme of the poem:
Qú lú refers to ancient hotels.
People are in the Tiandi Hotel, and trivial things in the world make our black hair sparse. How many people in life get real wealth? Just a fish swimming in a dream.
At the beginning of this poem, heaven and earth are compared to hotels, so isn't life a trip? Everything happened. People are gray. How many people have gained real wealth? There is an allusion about a real deer, which comes from Liezi Zhou Muwang. The allusion is too long, so I won't go into details. Let's talk about the meaning briefly. Interested friends can search.
Deer, as a symbol of wealth, was first acquired by a person by accident, but it was soon transferred to others and appeared in people's dreams many times. Even the person who gets the deer doesn't know if he is dreaming. Weakness of wealth makes people dream, and they never know whether they are in a dream or not, and whether they have nothing after waking up.

Huang Tingjian used this allusion to warn people to know what they want in life. The dream of being a fish is an illusion after all.
What if life is not a dream?
Let's take a look at this song "Ode to the Fisherman" in "Five Yuan Lantern Festival"
Ode to fisherman
Tang Chuan Zi Decheng's Buddhist Poems.
Thousands of feet silk fiber hanging straight, a wave of follow.
Shui Han fish don't eat in the quiet night, and the boat is full and empty.
The first two sentences of the poem are about fishing scenes, boating in the vast blue waves and sitting quietly fishing. What about the last two sentences? It's cold at night, and if the fish don't take the bait, the fishing will be for nothing. But the fish was not caught, but the boat was full of moonlight. Isn't it another harvest?
This poem is easy to understand and profound in artistic conception. Fishing doesn't mean that there are many things in life that are desirable. We don't have to be unhappy about it, but we should discover beauty with a good attitude.
Fishing late at night
Life is limited, what you want is infinite, and it will not be smooth sailing. It must be a lot of regrets. All the gains and losses are gone. Keep an optimistic attitude, everything you see in life is bright.
There is a saying in "Introduction to Caigen Tan", "If you don't reach the sky in one step, you will shake your clothes in the dust and trample on it in the mud. How can you surpass it?" What does this sentence mean? If you don't have a higher goal in the world, it's like shaking clothes in the dust and washing feet in the mud. How can we be extraordinary?
This requires us to have aspirations, pursuits, ideals and ambitions. But the goal was set, and I tried, but it didn't come true. What should I do? Are you lazy and disheartened?
The above Ode to the Fisherman is the answer. Our life, the pursuit of beauty and goals are the source of our growth, and what grows with it is our mentality. Don't miss the scenery along the way. Even if you don't reach the ideal destination, you will be glad that you have come.
