Shen's contribution to the popularization of Buddhism

1970, when the Institute of World Religions was established, the American Buddhist Association established the Translation Institute in Taiwan Province Province, hoping to translate Mahayana classics into English, so that Buddhism could enter European and American societies, not just spread in Chinese societies. This is a brand-new concept, and this idea comes from the layman. Since 1968, Shen Jushi was elected as the vice president of the American Buddhist Association, he has become the core figure in promoting the work of the American Buddhist Association. Translation Institute started planning from 1970, but there are no suitable talents in America. Finally, it was decided to locate in Taiwan Province Province, and Yanfu Jingshe's house was allocated as the meeting place by Yin Shun.

At the beginning of the establishment of the School of Translation, Shen personally served as the president, and hired two laymen, Gu Fayan and Ge Benjie, as vice presidents, and Li and two laymen as consultants. Both vice presidents are scientists with expertise in the field of science. Gu Fayan, a famous scholar with strict calligraphy, was born in Shaoxing, Zhejiang in 19 17. Graduated from National Central University and worked in Taiwan Province Rural Rehabilitation Committee for many years. He is proficient in Sanskrit and Pali and is a famous translator of scriptures. His translations of Selected Translations of Primitive Buddhist Scriptures, Enlightenment of Buddha and Three Pillars of Zen are deeply loved by readers. There are also many people involved in the work of the translation society, such as Guan Shiqian, Xu, Miao, How.

After the establishment of the School of Translation, Professor Zhang served as the dean and translated 22 volumes of "Dabaoji Classics" published in the United States. 1978, the feast master succeeded the dean, and the translation institute moved to China Buddhist College in Taipei. 1979 In March, the Institute of Translation was reorganized and taken over by China Buddhist College.
