Master Eagle is a folk ritual activity of Han nationality in Chaoshan area of Guangdong Province. Camp in Shen Ying is a word in Chaoshan dialect. In this phrase, it retains the ancient meanings of entanglement (Hanshu Yan Zhu) and boundary (Wenxuan Xue Zhu). God's sacrifice is called "Master Ying" because in the process of sacrifice, there must be a ceremony for the land god to inspect the land and settle down.
This festival originated from land worship, which led to the emergence of the land god. The land god was called "She" by the ancients and "Land Lord" or "Uncle" by the Chaoshan people.
The sacrifice of the land god has two properties. One is the worship of cultivated land, which is a reward for planting grain on the land and providing people with food; Worship of settled land is gratitude to land for building towns and protecting people's lives. This happened in ancient times.
The folk custom of the Spring Festival is:
1, dust removal
According to Lu Chunqiu, as early as the Yao and Shun era, China had the custom of sweeping dust during the Spring Festival. Because "dust" and "Chen" are homophonic, sweeping dust in the Spring Festival means "old cloth is new". Everyone hopes to sweep away all the misfortunes and bad luck from their homes by sweeping away the dust.
Step 2 post Spring Festival couplets
It is a unique literary form in China to express people's good wishes for the future with exquisite words. In our country, whether in the city or in the countryside, before the Spring Festival comes, people will choose a pair of couplets and stick them on their doors, adding a lot of festive atmosphere to the Spring Festival.
3. Eat jiaozi and jiaozi.
In the north, the first meal of the New Year must be jiaozi. In the south, some people eat jiaozi, and some eat glutinous rice balls. Although jiaozi is a common occurrence now, I can still remember the delicious jiaozi wrapped by my mother when I was a child, especially jiaozi on the morning of New Year's Day, which makes people drool.
Step 4 visit the temple fair
Another indispensable custom of the Spring Festival is to visit temple fairs. In the past, temple fairs were mainly sacrificial activities, and people would make incense, make wishes, make wishes and seek happiness. Of course, during the temple fair, there were some vendors selling this and that, as well as various folk art performances, which were very lively.
5, shou sui
Keeping old age on New Year's Eve is also one of the most important customs. Even on New Year's Eve, everyone has to stay up all night waiting for dawn. This is called "keeping the old age" and "holding the new year". There are two meanings of observing the old age: the old people observe the old age to bid farewell to the old and welcome the new, which means cherishing time; Young people keep their age in order to prolong the life of their parents.
