The specific location should be about 500 meters between the upstream of Zhaoshanjiao and the downstream of Zhaoshan Fishery Administration.
Since ancient times, there has been a poem "Zhaotan is bottomless", which is named Zhaotan because it is under Zhaoshan Mountain. Speaking of Zhou Zhaowang's expedition, he didn't stay here because he thought the pool was famous. Liu Chengzhi's Notes on Mountains and Rivers at the Beginning of Yong Dynasty in the Southern Song Dynasty: "There is a spiral pool at the foot of Zhaoshan Mountain, which is bottomless and is the deepest part of the Xiang River" (quoted from Taiping Universe, Volume 114). In the Eastern Jin Dynasty and the Southern Dynasties, it was near Xiangzhou Branch (now Changsha City), also known as Xiangzhou Lake. Sui changed Xiangzhou to Tanzhou, hence the name Tan.

Xiangjiang river topography
The whole Xiangjiang river basin starts from the shogunate mountain range-Luo Xiao mountain range on the Hunan-Jiangxi border in the east and reaches the Poyang Lake water system in the west. The south is bounded by the Xiangjiang River and the Pearl River watershed, and the waters are bounded; Hengshan Mountain in the west, Dongting Lake in the north, and Zishui. The landform types in this area are complex and diverse, mainly mountains and hills.
1, overall terrain. The whole Xiangjiang River has the characteristics of hills and gentle slopes. Geographically, Xiangjiang River Basin is a long-strip basin with high south and low north, with uneven terrain, which gradually inclines from south to north in a horseshoe shape and pours northward. There is little difference in elevation between upstream and downstream, and the height difference from the source to the entrance of the lake is about 450 meters.
2. Section topography. Traditionally, Xiangjiang River is divided into four sections: upper, middle, lower and tail. The topography of each section is very different, and the water potential is changeable. The interaction between water potential and topography further leads to the complexity and diversity of topography.
