The origin of Jehol
Chengde, the Jehol, was just a small village with only a dozen families in the early Qing Dynasty, called "Camp on the Jehol". In the 42nd year of Kangxi (1703), the Qing court built a summer resort here, and in the first year of Yongzheng (1723), the Jehol Hall was established. The name "Jehol" came from the small village "Shang He Ying". After the founding of the Republic of China, the Jehol Special Administrative Region was established in 19 14 (the third year of the Republic of China). 1928 changed to Jehol province. 1956 was revoked, and the jurisdiction was merged into Hebei, Liaoning and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region respectively.
